WISD makes sure low-income students have daily food during school. But a new wrinkle happened this year affecting how the school kids would eat when schools closed for the year. WISD kept making and giving food to those who needed it, even when school was not held in person, but funding was only planned throughout the school year. The district received a grant to continue feeding kids through part of the summer, but that grant ran out on June 30.

It has been a really strange year, but the Community really came through for the kids in the Wimberley Gold Santa (WGS) program! With all that was going on, we were still able to help 84 families with 208 kids have a better Christmas! No toys were collected this year for the safety of you, the families and for our team members but the cash donations allowed us to give a Visa Bank Card based on family size and an HEB Gift Card to each family so they could do their own shopping. Thanks to many wonderful donations, this year exceeded any previous year in the amounts available! To put that in perspective, WGS handed out $8,500 in Grocery Store Gift Cards in April when all this Covid-19 started and then $8,300+ in Bank Gift Cards and $4,200 in Grocery Store Gift Cards last month for a total of over $20,000 this year thanks to your generosity! Thank you, Wimberley!
