Ace contest lights up holiday spirit
Canceled, canceled, canceled. That’s the way events have been going all across the world the last nine months. EmilyAnn and the Trail of Lights were can celed, a long held Wimberley tradition, making the holiday a little drearier.
But it only takes a little light, perhaps a Christmas light, to dispel the dark. Christy Degenhart, of Wimberley Ace Hardware, came up with a plan. For some family fun for the holidays, she posted on Facebook a new contest, something the whole town could enjoy. Homes adorn with Christmas lights are for everyone to see and enjoy. They can also be enjoyed from the car making the event considerate to any COVID-19 related safety concerns.
From the Wimberley Ace Facebook page, “Let’s light up Wimberley with the Christmas Spirit… Decorate the EXTERIOR of your home as festive and beautiful as you can. Theme, no theme, we don’t care. Just make it sparkly and fun!” Judges were provided by EmilyAnn .
“I was really excited when the entries started rolling in. I had hoped we would get at least 10 but ended up with 28. I hope this brightens up an otherwise dismal year,” Degenhart said.
