Regional representative, Anthony Torres, said, “The center is currently working on a strategic plan to purchase a Rapid Response Unit, or RRU. This vehicle is used to serve food during a disaster. We are trying to locate individuals that would be interested in serving on an emergency disaster team. The individuals would be trained to serve food off the RRU or canteen during a disaster. Training will be provided at no cost, plus all expenses paid during a disaster by the Salvation Army. Individuals must be willing to deploy as necessary.” Torres explained that the length of deployment could be as little as a few days or up to fourteen days, especially during hurricane season.
