Wimberley’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6441 honored the winners its 2020 Voice of Democracy patriotic essay contest at its monthly post dinner Thursday.
Wimberley ISD, February 10, 2020–Wimberley High School has a very active Future Farmers of America organization made up of students focused on agricultural education with training and courses that prepare them for any career. An important part of their training is attendance at the National FFA Convention, the largest in the country, for members from around the nation and abroad. The WHS FFA officers look forward to this week-long event in Indianapolis because of the many exciting opportunities it offers young people.
Trustees of the Wimberley Village Library District have established a building committee to select and work with architects to expand the library at 400 FM 2325.
Candidates for the upcoming Hays County primary election will be featured in a public forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Hays County. The forum is set for Thursday, Feb. 13, at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins Street, at 6:30 p.m.

The imminent Permian Highway Pipeline project by Kinder Morgan that has been in the works since fall 2018 threatens to start construction as soon as they have federal permits, which are expected soon. However, the $2 billion, 42-inch natural gas pipeline that is set to run through multiple counties including Hays, Gillespie and Blanco has put a number of concerns on the minds of many Texas Hill Country communities and landowners leading to a lawsuit filed on February 5 by multiple cities, districts, property owners and Hays County.

According to Morgan, “The Storytelling Fest, a first for Wimberley, promises to be the perfect way to spend the day for grownups who a love good story, who love a great presenter, who enjoy live theater.”

Wimberley Toastmasters members served as part of a team of judges at the University Intercollegiate League (UIL) Academic Meet at Danforth Junior High in Wimberley on January 25. The UIL event gave sixth-to-eighth grade students the opportunity to practice public speaking and dramatic reading skills and receive feedback and coaching on their efforts.
Wimberley Community Civic Club is pleased to continue it’s tradition of offering financial aid to students with a record of achievement, who need financial assistance to pursue their educational goals beyond high school. Applications will be considered whether the applicant chooses to attend a traditional university or a qualified non traditional institution of higher learner such as a culinary or art institute or a trade school.
