The Lady Texan soccer team didn’t lose a game this week; however, they didn’t win one either.
The basketball rivalry between Wimberley and Fredericksburg had reached a fever pitch last year following a thrilling overtime game that saw the Texans knock off the Billies.
The only blemish on the Lady Texan’s young season came at an inopportune time. In the inaugural Lady Texan Cup, the first soccer tournament hosted by the Wimberley girls’ soccer team, Wimberley placed third after falling to Pieper 3-1 on the second day of the event. However, that loss was a learning experience. After all, it was the first time in eight games the girls had even trailed in a game.
Despite a rough outing against Fredericksburg, the Lady Texans still remain on top of the district standings with an important win over Bandera.
The Wimberley girls’ basketball team kicked off district play with a good bounce as the Lady Texans knocked off rival Canyon Lake 58-20.
After having two games canceled last week, the Wimberley boys basketball team got off one last nondistrict game as the Texans defeated the Blanco Panthers 77-63.

The Wimberley Lady Texans basketball team took home 4th place at the Wimberley Hoopfest Tournament finishing with three wins and two losses.
The Wimberley Texans fell short in the Hoopsfest Championship game as they lost to the Georgetown East View Patriots in a thrilling 68-63 game.
The chase for the Wimberley Texans Team Tennis State Championship began in the most unusual place.
In September, Christian Marshall was told it would be around eight months until his broken leg would be fully healthy. Eight months later, he crossed the finish line as the first Wimberley High School boys’ track athlete to hang a gold medal around his neck at the end of a race in the state meet.
“We all know he is really talented, but he is just a freshman,” Wimberley Golf Coach Dane Saucier said. “With the nerves of this being the first time on that stage, and with the weather conditions, having the first round that he did is unheard of.”
Peyton Anderson and Cooper Doss knew that their Wimberley High School teammates Tate Murphy and Drew Gonzales were good. The two Wimberley boys’ doubles tennis teams faced off every day in practice and in every tournament finals this year.
In one of the biggest wins of the season, the Wimberley Girls Basketball team knocked off the previously undefeated Boerne Geneva Eagles in a roaring 52-49 win Friday afternoon.
