Baseball sweeps Bandera in huge wins

The Wimberley girls’ soccer team finished the season with a 4-1 loss to Calallen in the UIL Region IV Semifinals. This was the second year in a row that Calallen knocked Wimberley out of the playoffs at the regional tournament.
The Battle of the Backbone ended in a split series as rivals Wimberley and Canyon Lake clashed to add another chapter in their short history with the Hawks winning Game 1 at 11-10 and the Texans taking Game 2 at 4-3.
A double-double is typically a basketball term, but it works well to explain the Wimberley Texan tennis team, whose doubles teams doubled up on district championships last week.
“It was probably the most exciting game I’ve ever been a part of in the six years I’ve been in Wimberley,” Wimberley Girls’ Soccer Coach Brinton Nute said.
It is hard to win a district championship. It’s even harder to win two. But Wimberley took that to an entirely new level when they crowned two back-to-back district champion golfers last weekend.
The Wimberley Texans softball team was able to round out the first round of district play this week including taking an important 14-3 win over the Davenport Wolves on Tuesday.
After a 13-1 loss to rival Canyon Lake, the Texans needed a big boost in order to get back into the playoff contention.
The Texas Relays are the second largest track meet in the United States and draw some of the best competition in the nation. While it is a collegiate competition at its heart, the top Texas high school athletes also compete with a stringent list of qualifying times required to enter. While it may not be the state championships, it isn’t too far off, and in some categories it can be even more difficult.
It can be hard to compete when your entire team isn’t available to take the field. That didn’t stop the Wimberley girls’ track team from winning the home track meet the Texan Relays last week.
Heading into last week on a four game losing streak, the Wimberley baseball team needed a jump start before heading into district play.
It didn’t even take a full game for the Wimberley Lady Texan soccer team to right a historical wrong.
The Wimberley softball team battled Canyon Lake in the Battle of the Backbone series as both teams looked for a district win during Spring Break.
Spring Break for the Wimberley baseball team was a rough one as the Texans fell in a doubleheader sweep to the Cornerstone Christian Warriors losing both Game 1 at 5-0 and Game 2 at 13-3.
The Wimberley Texan boys’ soccer team is in a tight race to qualify for the post season and every point matters. After a huge week with a tie against Fredericksburg and a win against Bandera, Wimberley has assured themselves of the most important thing – a trip to the playoffs.
