Once again, the Wimberley Lions Club was given permission to open Market Day, happening on Saturday, November 7. Last month, Lions Field was teeming with visitors who were happy with the re-opening. Naturally, all necessary safety measures were taken then, and the same measures will be observed in November.

The city of Wimberley is reminding the community that this year there is no organized Downtown Trick-or-Treating Event sponsored by the city, the Merchant’s Association or the Chamber of Commerce. Last Saturday the city Parks Department sponsored a fun Covid-careful Halloween “Trunk or Treating” Event through Blue Hole Regional Park. Over 250 cars participated in the event, which allowed kids to dress in their costumes and for local organizations and businesses to hand out treats safely.

Hays County residents have turned out in historic fashion this year with numbers surpassing totals in the last presidential election.
The Wimberley ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the removal of asynchronous learning following the return from Thanksgiving break.
The Hays County Local Health Department reported 71 recoveries from COVID-19, 66 new cases, four hospitalizations and two hospital discharges on Monday, which included information from the weekend.
Pegasus Planning and Development has been hired to prepare the City of Woodcreek’s first-ever comprehensive plan and update its zoning and ordinances accordingly. “The city of Woodcreek is a lively community located in the midst of the Texas Hill Country, home to nearly 2,000 residents,” a press release from Pegasus Planning and Development said. “Due to Hays County’s 45 percent population increase from 2010 to 2019, planning for the impact of that growth as well as Woodcreek’s future has never been more essential. The plan will be strategic and sensible, establishing a framework for how Woodcreek desires to develop and grow in the future, while also preserving its character. Importantly, the comprehensive plan will be used as a decision-making tool by community leaders to understand the fiscal impacts of their future landuse decisions.”
The Hays County Commissioners Court voted to execute another year of the Texas Indigent Defense Commission’s Hays County Indigent Defense Coordinator Program, accepting the grant for $51,531.
The U.S. Census count came to a close Thursday after the Supreme Court stayed a federal District Court decision and allowed the government to stop counting households two weeks early.

October in Wimberley is a beautiful, wonderful month, with temperatures usually highs in the 70s or 80s, with a whiff of fall in the air.
