Sheriff Gary Cutler and Challenger Alex Villalobos raised close to the same over the last two campaign finance reporting periods, with Villalobos holding steady up until the final filing deadline and Cutler bringing in more contributions earlier in the campaign.
Economic development is a team sport – and in a year like no other, I have incredible gratitude for the staff, investors, and all the stakeholders that brought a record-breaking year to the region, particularly our Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) board of directors.

Winter is coming up and the cold is bitter and growing. The Crisis Bread Basket sees the hunger needs of the Wimberley community, and the community they serve is growing. Although the amount of poverty might not be noticeable from Ranch Road 12, it is there. Those little gravel and caliche roads off to the side will take you there. Keep on driving, way back. Once you arrive, it’s not what you might think of when you say Wimberley, but it is real.
A lawsuit calling for the removal of Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra was ruled in his favor on Oct. 15, denying the plaintiff’s request for his removal and citation.

Hays County set new voting records with 109,386 votes cast in the General Election in
On the ballot this November, the $74 million Hays County Proposition A would potentially fund approximately 15 projects, including four in the Wimberley area.
Texas’ housing market rebounded in September as homebuyers rushed to take advantage of historically low mortgage rates. Existing homes sold through Texas Multiple Listing Services increased 10.7 percent from August and are running 2.6 percent higher relative to the first three quarters of 2019.
The Hays County Commissioners Court approved an additional Pretrial Bond Offcer position after a 440% increase in pretrial bond case load since February.
