New Lions president taking on challenges

On September 10, the local community may have heard cheers all around town when members of the Wimberley Lions Club received notice that Market Day is happening in October, after being closed since April. The club’s board of directors and local authorities approved the reopening of Lions Field for business. As the Lions’ president for the 2020 – 2021 term, Bobby Burris has faced challenges never before experienced by former leaders in the club’s fifty-one year history. He has been a Wimberley Lion since 2015 and has held various roles including Tail Twister, Board Director, and moved up the three Vice-President positions before becoming President. He said, “The Honorable Mayor of Wimberley, Gina Fulkerson, gave us the approval to reopen Market Day based upon a reasonable set of precautions in place, to make interactions as safe as possible.”
