Eighteen small businesses have been awarded funds up to $10,000 in the first wave of grant awards from the Hays County Emergency Cash Assistance Program (ECAP).

The Hays County Commissioners Court came to a consensus on its fiscal year 2021 budget by increasing the judge’s recommended tax rate to accommodate for staff budget requests including addressing shortfalls in law enforcement equipment and staff.

Hays County plans to close the low-water crossing on Wayside Drive (County Road 179) at the Blanco River on Tues., September 1 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. The closure is needed to perform a geotechnical boring of the roadway.

Hays County Emergency Management Coordinator Alex Villalobos announced a private partnership with the Texas Department of Emergency Management to provide COVID-19 testing at San Marcos High School from Aug. 24 - Aug. 30.

Hays County Elections Administrator Jennifer Anderson plans to mail ballots directly from their office in San Marcos to voters instead of working with a company in Arizona for fear of mailing delays from out of state.

The Wimberley Valley had three new lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the last week. This follows the previous week, in which there were zero new cases in the Wimberley Valley.
