The long spring season for track comes to a close next Thursday, May 11 at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus in Austin.
Wimberley High School’s Texan baseball continued their quest for better playoff seeding last week, facing off with Canyon Lake High School on both Tuesday and Friday night.

Wimberley High School softball (5-17 overall, 2-7 district) traveled to Boerne High School on Tuesday, April 18, matching up against the district-leading Greyhounds (23-9, 8-1) in the last game of the season.
Wimberley High School’s Texan Tennis continues its streak of success sending four to the University Interscholastic League Tennis finals after qualifying last week in the regional tournament at North East ISD in San Antonio.

A tough season is drawing to a close for the softball team at Wimberley High School (2-7 district.) Yet in a season of turbulence, relationships have deepened and positive steps continue to be taken.
Dreams became reality for the San Marcos Homeschool girls basketball team as the Panthers captured the National Christian Homeschool Basketball National Championship by beating six different teams from across the country.
Weather plays a role in spring sports as do holidays and school breaks. With a shortened week for Good Friday and Easter weekend, last week’s contests at the Wimberley Sports Complex were adjusted to Monday and Thursday. When a cold front moved in late Wednesday, Thursday’s games were moved over to Monday. Both variables, holiday observance and weather, played a part in circumstances.
Wimberley High School track participated in their district track meet at Geronimo Navarro High School on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 4 and 5, last week.
Wimberley High School golfer Jaxon Donaldson smiled big and leaned back in his seat: “I’m excited because we’re going down to Victoria as a team. We have a real chance to get out of regionals and get to the state tournament as a group, and that’s a new experience for me. I’m really happy about it.”
Wimberley High School’s Lady Texan soccer has been successful. Playoffs are now expected as are seeding in the top couple of spots from one of the toughest 4A districts in the state.
Wimberley’s Texan softball (1-2 district) closed out the first half of their district season last week. The first half has been difficult as the ladies won the opening district contest versus Canyon Lake in dramatic fashion then falling in the subsequent games to both Bandera and Fredericksburg. They would get an opportunity to draw their record even against Davenport in Garden Ridge last Tuesday.
Wimberley High School’s Texan baseball entered the spring with high hopes for a good run in district and a dream for a championship. Now, both seem like a distant memory.
