The weather is hot, but the music will be even hotter when the Wimberley Valley Big Band presents their family-friendly, free concert on Saturday, June 18 in the chill of the VFW Hall in Wimberley. From 3 p.m. – 5 p.m., the group of twenty or so volunteer musicians will play an array of popular big band selections. Director, Doug Gillory, said, “This concert will be an opportunity for us to play some jazz and swing with a little rock with multiple soloists to showcase the improvisational skills of our super-talented members.”

The Wimberley ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved to name the Danforth Junior High School library as the Elizabeth C. Grayson Library, in honor of longtime WISD educator Beth Grayson. Assistant Superintendent Dee Howard and Danforth Junior High Principal Greg Howard presented the idea to the board and also presented the honor to Grayson at the meeting.
A proposed RV resort with 201 sites and 30 cabins on the north side of the Wimberley Valley has filed an application requesting a permit for up to 4.5 million gallons of water per year from the Hays Trinity Groundwater Conservation District. Two local property owners are protesting the application.
