The value of homes in the Wimberley Valley increased more than 10 percent in the last year, according to the Hays Central Appraisal District. That is more than the 7.9 percent average increase in market value for homes in Hays County.
The CDC is now recommending that persons visiting grocery stores, pharmacies, etc., wear cloth face masks to help keep those individuals who are asymptomatic (not showing symptoms) from spreading the virus without knowing that they are infectious. The CDC noted that general public should use fabric coverings and not surgical masks or specialized N95 masks, which should be reserved for health care providers.
The first lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Wimberley area was reported today.

Wimberley ISD has extended the school closure deadline to April 14 to stay in line with Hays County’s “Stay at Home, Work Safe” order. The previous closure had announced school would be closed through April 3.
The City of Woodcreek has issued a “Stay-In, Stay- Safe” order for residents to help stem the spread of the current coronavirus outbreak, abbreviated as COVID19. The order calls on residents to limit travel outside of the home to only essential activities, essential business functions, and essential infrastructure and government functions, and to adhere to social distancing guidelines. The order became effective at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, March 24. Further details about the order can be found on the city website, www.woodcreektx.gov.
While there are zero confirmed cases of COVID-19 in either Wimberley or Woodcreek as of the afternoon of March 30, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the virus hasn’t reach the local community.
Wimberley Stitch Studios, locally owned by Rich and Linda Hasselberg, are doing their part in this crisis by being the conduit for good. They usually help people with quilts and others’ sewing needs. But now they are temporarily putting quilts on the backburner, and putting safety the front burner, doing all they can to help first responders and medical personnel.
WAG or Wimberley Adoption Group and Rescue is in a good place during this tumultuous period of quarantine and isolation. According to Barbara Foss, President of WAG, “We’re like everyone and dealing with the situation one day at a time.”
Both Hays County and the city of Wimberley have closed all parks to the public.
Hays County Sheriff Gary Cutler made a statement saying the sheriff’s office would not be using the county’s stay-at-home curfew as a reason to stop vehicles.
