Who’s who and what we’re doing

We have had some wonderful KWB Presidents over the years, starting with Martha Knies then Ann Arendarczyk and Carol Scheel.

This year, Lin Weber has taken over the reins as our new president, supported by the other board members — Janette Barlow, Jeanie Karon and Sarah Attwood —and all our fantastic and enthusiastic volunteers. The appointment of Lin is a wonderful fit for our community with her Master Naturalist and Wimberley Parks Board experience.

We love our volunteers. They are out and about in Wimberley every month whether it is decorating the bridge; planting and watering around the square and Martha’s Park; cleaning up roads; maintaining the welcome signs; updating planters; working at the Wimberley Village Thrift Store (to raise funds); organizing Shred It Day; or planning other events such as the Roadside Clean Up, the free large item dumpster drop off and Drug Take Back Day. As an organization, we are always looking for new opportunities to help beautify our lovely community. If you have any ideas, we would love to hear them.

There are many nonprofits in Wimberley doing amazing work for our community. At KWB, some of our volunteers like to show up to help once a year for an event or for multiple activities they enjoy doing. If you are interested in learning more, reach out to us at keepwimberleybeautiful@ gmail.com or you can pick up one of our new pamphlets at the Visitor Center, Library, Community Center, Thrift Store, etc.

Special news this month: Thanks to our volunteers and all their work, KWB received the highest-level recognition from Keep Texas Beautiful: the Gold Standing.

KWB’s next event is Drug Take Back Day at the Hays County Constable’s Office (Pct. 3) is April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
