Thank you to a community helping in time of need

My husband Solon and I moved full time to Wimberley in 2009. He spent the past nearly 12 years using his talents and his servant’s heart filled with a love for God and a joyful, compassionate, caretaker’s spirit to meet needs of all kinds in our community. On Good Friday, April 2nd, in the parking lot of HEB, the needs shifted and his community reached out to help him.

Thank you Kerry Jones along with Robin and Shane (whom I don’t know) for getting to him quickly and surrounding him with compassionate care. Thank you, Mrs. Henry and others who were nearby and immediately began praying. Thank you to whomever quickly called EMS. Thank you to employees of HEB and those in the parking lot who, I’m told, offered help and guided drivers to safely move their vehicles and clear a path for aid to come. Thank you Ken Strange, EMS staff and sheriffs who tended to Solon as God ushered him to Heaven. Thank you Chick Morgan and friends who networked to find me. Thank you Ken for reaching my son Adam and getting him there. Thank you Pastor Scott and Tara Weatherford, Dan Stevens, Brenda Morton, our church staff, Ken and others who lovingly held me up there at the store and in prayer as I arrived and learned the news. And thank you to countless friends who have offered support and have written glorious tributes.

We are a diverse community and differences between people sometimes get in the way. But Solon and I have always seen that when crises come, our people pull together and help each other. Solon spent his life selflessly helping others. Thank you, friends, for giving that final gift to him. Aaron, Adam and I will be forever grateful. God bless you all.
