Letters of Support

Supporting Lori Olson, Place 1

I have known Lori Olson for over a decade and have proudly watched her serve our community for the past three years as a volunteer for the WISD Board of Trustees. In that time, she has spent countless hours attending meetings, researching issues, meeting with constituents, and attending trainings that have enabled her to become an even more knowledgeable, thoughtful and compassionate school board member. Her experience will be needed as our district moves forward with the implementation of a $45 Million dollar bond package. We will need intelligence and professionalism at the board table and Lori brings both.

She isn’t afraid to ask the tough questions and do the hard work needed to make sure that our district is held to the highest standards. Lori has worked to make board activities and meetings more transparent and open. She was also instrumental in making sure that our children are driven to and from school, field trips and other academic and extra-curricular activities on buses with seat belts. Lori stands for protecting the best interests of our children, promoting programs to reduce bullying and encourage kindness on all our campuses. She believes that retaining quality teachers is instrumental in achieving academic excellence. In fact, she has voted to increase teacher pay all three years she has been on the board, pushing WISD toward pay equity with surrounding districts so that we can attract the “best”.

I hope that you will join me in supporting the re-election of one of our most competent and hard-working school board members - Lori Olson - to Place 1 on the WISD Board of Trustees.

Christine Byrne

As a new mom, therapist, and city councilmember, I know the importance of proven leadership on our school board. I support Lori Olson for re-election because she is responsive, collaborative, and has the experience we need.

RESPONSIVE

A couple years ago I called WISD board members to discuss ways students could be better supported in cases of emotional trauma. Lori Olson was the first to call me back, opening an ongoing conversation about what school safety means from a whole-child perspective. She has since worked to reduce bullying on all campuses, and her input in the district safety audit will be instrumental to ensuring our schools are nurturing places to learn.

COLLABORATIVE

Lori and I are in the Lion’s Club together where she regularly volunteers to make our Market Day fundraisers successful. She also attends my coffee talks to answer school district questions and to stay informed of potential city-school collaborations. Her work to conserve our night sky by making sure new stadium lights were dark sky-friendly – an important part of our community’s International Dark Sky status – was a perfect example of what we can accomplish when we all work together.

EXPERIENCED

Lori’s is professionally well respected and has a strong background in financial management, evident in her previous work on the WISD board to ensure accountability. Her perspective will be vital to the oversight of the $45 million bond just voted in for our district.

As we move forward, when difficult decisions must be made, we need proven leadership at the table to ensure that the community’s voice is fully represented. Vote for responsive, collaborative experience. Vote Lori Olson for Place 1 on the WISD School Board on November 6th.

Allison Davis

Wimberley is fortunate to have had Lori Olson serve on the WISD Board of Trustees the past three years. Lori exhibits conscientious leadership and maintains a thoughtful and compassionate approach to the many important matters that impact the most precious asset of our Wimberley Valley, our children. We now have the opportunity to re-elect Lori as our Place 1 Trustee so that she can continue to build on the good work she has started, with intelligent, informed decision making.

Lori is a smart, hard-working, loving mother who has passed on to her two daughters a passion for learning and exploration, while teaching them the importance of kindness and respect for others in a diverse world. Lori believes that each child is unique and that our children thrive when given the opportunity to exercise their intelligence and creative spirit in a way that speaks to their own person. Offering a wide array of school programs and extra-curricular activities to all students and supporting our school administrators in the effort to do so is important to Lori.

Lori wants to ensure that our schools are safe and secure places for our students to learn and grow. She successfully advocated for seatbelts on Wimberley school buses and passionately supports any effort to discourage bullying and promote compassion for others district (and community) wide.

Lori has worked constructively with the entire board to accomplish many good things in her time serving alongside them, and relishes the opportunity to continue to have a positive impact on our schools and beyond. The strength of our community begins with our children and the dedicated community leaders who serve to support them — we believe Lori Olson is an ideal advocate for our district as we grow together to Keep Wimberley Well Educated!

Supporting Mark Bursiel, Place 1

As a WISD resident, voter, and parent, I am casting my vote for Mark Bursiel, Place 1. Mark’s credentials as a dedicated public servant and involved parent have been well-documented over the past several years and his tireless volunteerism is almost unparalleled.

His campaign efforts are greatly appreciated, as are the goals he has articulated for Wimberley schools and the district as a whole. I’ve had the pleasure of serving on several committees with Mark and have seen first-hand how passionate and sincere his dedication is.

I believe he will be a true advocate for all students and teachers, and that he will help ensure that every child has the chance to maximize his or her potential.

Natalie Meeks

I’ve been honored to know Mark Bursiel since I first moved to Wimberley. I’m proud to call Mark a friend and endorse him for the Wimberley ISD Board.

Let me introduce Mark and explain why I think he is the most qualified person for the WISD Place 2 seat.

Mark Bursiel is a community minded, hardworking, businessman with Christian values. Mark’s Wimberley roots run deep. As a 25 year resident, graduated from Wimberley High School and Texas State. His family is also community service oriented. His mother served on Wimberley City Council and his father volunteered on the City’s Budget and Finance Committee. Mark is currently Chairman of Wimberley’s Parks Board and a member of the City’s Tourism Committee. Mark’s business experience, civic involvement and education give him the financial tools necessary to help manage the important WISD budget. As a logical and thoughtful planner he is uniquely poised to make important conservative choices that will impact this school district and community for decades.

Mark says, “It’s all about the Students and the Teachers.” He should know, he’s married to a teacher and has two children in elementary schools. Mark knows it’s about taking care of all the kids, not just a select few. He also knows exactly how important it is to treat our teachers with respect. This firsthand knowledge is beneficial to a leader when making fair and well thought out decisions that will advance the school programs.

Simply stated, Mark wants to help keep WISD one of the best School Districts statewide. That will take teamwork, leadership and an overall view of the school environment. I believe Mark Bursiel’s expertise and commitment to do what’s right for the students and teachers, make him the right choice for WISD. Mark Bursiel gets my Vote for WISD Place

2.

Gary Barchfeld

• “I am excited to endorse Matk Bursiel for School Board. I have known Mark for a little over a year and have always admired his dedication to public service. Based on his time on several of our City Boards

• Including Parks, and the Hot Committee. Mark understands the challenges our students face and he has the vision we need to improve our schools. When I ran for City Council , my motto was “For all of Wimberley .” I am supporting Mark because I believe he is for all of Wimberley’s kids. His character has been of a Strong and ethical one. He is a man of moral integrity and he follows through with those characteristics in any of the boards or duties that have given to him. He has worked tirelessly on creating solutions and policy and advocating for best practices on those boards. Mark knows education and knows policy, but more importantly he knows what parents, students, and teachers are crying out for. The WISD School Board needs new, experienced blood. Yes, the Board is responsible for the conditions of our students, teachers, and schools, so if you are ready for supported students, supported teachers, and supported schools, vote Mark, I am.”

Supporting Traci Maxwell, Place 2

This is my letter of support for Traci Maxwell. I am writing a straightforward letter from my heart in the only way I know how.

My husband and I were new to Wimberley in2007 and started to attend a local church, where we met Traci (or T as we call her). She called to welcome us, answer any questions, etc., and to offer a loaf of homemade bread for us from the church as a part of our welcoming. Time went on, we missed her at church or we weren’t at home…but eventually, I got this call from her one day and she said, “Look, I gotta get this bread to you so they will leave me the hell alone.” I still think back on that day and smile. Right then and there I knew we would get along just fine. I tell you this personal story to give you insight into the very real personable Traci Maxwell. T had a job to do and, by golly, it was going to get done. She ended up chasing us down so that we received our fresh bread. No matter how large or small the task, T will get it done--that is what she does, gets things done.

Traci is a strong woman who is passionate about kids, our community and serving others. I have watched this single mom give tirelessly of herself…raising her kids, making time for her kids’ extracurricular activities, being actively involved in her church and church’s youth activities, taking charge during the Wimberley floods and being the Director of Volunteers for the Blanco River Regional Recovery Team. As Traci’s peer and friend, I have witnessed Traci take on many roles actively all in the same day--still completing real estate business, caring for out of town family and being focused on youth sports all in one day. (She does give good real time WISD sports scores updates!) And she does all of this successfully! I think this shows the type of caring, extremely capable, strong, energetic, honest, fair, hardworking, dedicated, selfless career mom, and servant leader Traci Maxwell is. These are the reasons why my letter of support for Traci Maxwell WISD Pl 2 is informal, personal and REAL, like the “T” I know. She is real! The Jacksons will be voting for Traci Maxwell WISD PL 2!

Ashley Jackson

During the 2015 flood, Traci Maxwell‘s actions on behalf of the WISD, where she served in the Board, helped many. They opened the High School for 400 flood survivors and the donations that started pouring in. Traci set up the nearby gymnasium and coordinated donations and volunteers for weeks. Soon she realized that because Wimberley was on national news, she could call neighbors up and down the river to come get donations also. Through her WISD Board position, she made friends for our river community far and wide.

More recently, Traci Maxwell‘s financial and real estate expertise helped create the $45 million dollar school bond. Let’s vote to keep Traci‘s expertise and dedication on the WISD School Board to carry this major school project forward wisely.

Supporting Jeff McDorman, Place 2

I am writing on behalf of Jeff McDorman, my friend for the last 7 years. I believe that Jeff would be the perfect person to fill Place 2 on the WISD School Board. His commitment to kids and families in the Wimberley community has been evident through his long, successful career in coaching and teaching at Wimberley ISD. He knows what it takes to run successful programs and he knows what it means to be a “team player”. He has the ability to bring people together and get things done. He will be an asset to the Wimberley ISD school board because he has first-hand knowledge of the issues. He knows what is important to the families and faculty that represent Wimberley ISD. His years spent teaching, coaching, interacting with families and serving this community has prepared him for this position and prepared him to continue to serve WISD. Jeff has an outstanding moral character and operates with integrity with all that he does and with all of those he encounters.

I highly recommend Jeff McDorman for WISD School Board place 2.

Sincerely,

Mark Messenger

I met Jeff McDorman in the first weeks of moving to Wimberley in 2011 and have grown to appreciate him through involvement covering football, basketball, and golf for local sports broadcasts. Over the years, I’ve interviewed Jeff and his students, discussing his involvement in their successes. They speak of his coming alongside them, serving as a calming force, and walking the path with them as a friend and mentor. He’s led students to work together during adversity, showing commitment to their personal progress. When asked about his instruction, they shared his skill to judge the gifts, talents, and strengths of individual students then craft a strategy around those to guide them collectively toward achievement. Jeff’s past behavior shows his ability to evaluate the resources available and determine how to use them to the fullest benefit of students and faculty. Isn’t that what we want from our School Board members?

While he’s been an exemplary educator, he’s also appreciated and esteemed by his colleagues. Ask a parent, teacher, or coach about Jeff and you’ll get nothing but positive responses and funny anecdotes. He’s quick-witted with a good humor, always carries a smile on his face, and is consistently approachable and sociable. His work ethic is undeniable and - having worked in education most of his life - he recognizes the needs of administrators and teachers from their unique perspective. I can think of no one better suited to serve as a liaison between WISD, it’s students, staff, and administrators and the community that he loves and has poured himself into the past 13 years.

He’s devoted his personal and professional life to develop character and talent in our students that will last their lifetimes. It’s my pleasure to recommend Jeff McDorman for Wimberley School Board Place 2.

Sincerely

Joe Smith

Supporting Rob Campbell, Place 3

Wimberley! On Nov 6th, we have the awesome yet critical responsibility to elect our school board members. One of the most important investments we can make in our beloved Wimberley is to focus on the growth, development, and success of our youth. I did not author these thoughts. I heard them many years ago from a great friend, Rob Campbell. And in my 20+ years of knowing Rob, his consistent actions reflect that belief. Interestingly, it was his heart for the youth that brought him to Wimberley 30 years ago, when he served as youth pastor. Having the privilege to serve alongside Rob on the church board, I’ve witnessed his dedication to the youth, even in lean times. He was not simply satisfied with allocating resources, staff, and programs to serve our local-area youth...he wanted more than just to serve them, he consistently challenged them to serve others; to look beyond themselves; to develop them into responsible adults. He ensured resources and programs were in place to achieve this.

Rob Campbell is vested into this community. His daughters are products of the Wimberley school system, as will be his grandchildren. On the night of the epic 2015 flood, Rob and Susan (wife) raced to unlock the church, so those that were pushed out of their homes would have shelter and support. The following day, Rob welcomed in teams and teams of relief organizations and volunteers that could provide immediate assistance. He also championed a task force to responsibly disperse approximately $500,000 directly to flood survivors.

If this article were not constrained in length, I would elaborate on Rob’s character traits. Nonetheless, I can attest that his integrity is beyond reproach. After 26 years in the military, if I had to hang my hat on one trait, it would be integrity!

Larry Ellis

I am writing to communicate my support for Rob Campbell and his candidacy for Wimberley School Board place 3. Rob plays an instrumental role in our community by developing leaders that are intentional to reach, support and equip our younger generations. His vision for the kids of Wimberley have been intentional for decades and, under his umbrella of leadership and decision making, he has positively influenced the lives of countless kids, including my own. As a junior high school student, leaders equipped and sent by Rob Campbell developed meaningful friendships and mentorships with me that have played instrumental roles in my development. These are lifelong friendships that remain in tact after several years. I moved back to Wimberley 2 years ago, now with my wife and 3 kids of my own. I do not hesitate to say that Rob Campbell has my complete trust and support in making the important decisions on behalf of my kids’ education. Rob will be a champion to the success of our kiddos and under his direction, I am confident that our kids and schools will be on the right track.

Daniel Verhaalen

We are excited and honored that our long time friend Rob Campbell is running for WISD school board. We support him because he is a man of character and values. He is fair and kind. He loves people. We know that as a pastor and counselor, he has worked with many different kinds of people in many different kinds of situations.

We also know that he loves and cares about all children and will be their advocate to maximize their potential. He runs an entity with a budget and knows how to make adjustments to keep that budget balanced. Rob is a team player and I know he will listen to both sides of an issue. We believe Rob Campbell would serve our district well and ask for you to vote for him. It’s all about the kids!

Liz and Brent Tuttle

Voting for just about anything or anybody these days seems to be a very complicated endeavor. I no longer vote solely based on the issues or political orientation/ party but also look hard at the MATURITY of the candidate. MATURITY to work with others is at the top of my list these days for qualifications and Rob Campbell has demonstrated over many years and time and time again he has that MATURITY. He has the MATURITY to make good decisions for the good of the whole. Rob has the ability and desire to be open minded and open hearted about complex and difficult decisions that will be made in the best interest of Wimberley’s students. He will be a good listener to other board members and respectful of their opinions and perspectives and viewpoints even when there are areas of disagreements. Rob has shown, over the years in Wimberley, that he has the MATURITY to be a community builder. He will not go the route of demanding his way, or be divisive or negative. His calm and thoughtful demeanor is critical to building trust and respect with other board members and with the community at large. This really isn’t about one person’s strengths to get things done it is ultimately about being a person that can be part of a team effort through building trust and relationships with other board members. Without trust it is hard to get much done. I believe Rob Campbell will bring all the qualities mentioned above, and more, to the WISD school board and be a positive and effective leader for the good of our students and for the entire WISD community. I feel thankful and grateful he is willing to serve on the school board.

Suzanne Davis

Following my retirement we moved permanently to Wimberley, Texas in 2005 but visited family here since 1965. I was a professor and administrator having a leadership and supervisory role for programs guiding teaching, research, extension, undergraduate and graduate training in three major state universities. In Wimberley I have known Rob Campbell for at least 15 years.

As a result of this background I feel qualified to address the qualifications of Rob Campbell for the Wimberley School Board, place 3.

Rob Campbell was brought originally to Wimberley in 1988 as a youth pastor. His children attended Wimberley schools and then went on to college. He greatly values education and is even now a student himself. He works tirelessly for what is best for our youth community and has long been known as a person centered on the welfare of our larger community. Most recently for example, when the May 2015 Flood struck us on the Blanco River he helped secure hundreds of thousands of relief dollars for flood victims, carried out responsible financial management, and helped rebuild our community. Rob is inclusive and believes our schools should serve all our students bringing out the best in each one and maintaining our high academic standards. Our society needs great teachers, doctors, electricians, carpenters, and many others.

Toward solving issues, he is known as a man of high integrity, and candor, who says what he means, yet is approachable by nature without being intrusive; an effective team player and consensus builder.

This election I will vote, as I always have, for what I believe to be the very best of the Democrat or Republican nominees. My choice this year for our Wimberley School Board place 3 will be Rob Campbell.

Chuck Curtis

Our school board’s decisions impact not only our schools, but reverberate beyond school, affecting the Wimberley Valley as well.

Because we need seasoned community members with visible records of positive community influence and known for sound judgement, I endorse Rob Campbell for school board.

Having served nearly thirty years as a principal in Wimberley, then with the board for five years, I witnessed, firsthand, the significance of board determinations on our community. Rob, who I have known most of that time, is one I trust to make those all-important decisions. He is logical and thoughtful in his reasoning and, as a respecter of persons, welcomes the thoughts and opinions of others. He will arrive at decisions being well-informed. Additionally, he will balance the needs of the district with the needs of the community.

Rob’s daily, positive impact within our community speaks for itself. His high visibility in WImberley allows his life of integrity to be on display for all to see. His character is impeccable.

Additionally, he experienced Wimberley I.S.D. personally, as his two daughters are products of the Wimberley school system, both exemplary students. He knows the value of high academic expectations and the need for well-rounded young men and women, all qualities we seek in our graduates. He will work to preserve and enhance these qualities.

Voting for Rob Campbell means a voice of reason on our board. Please join me in supporting him.

Respectfully,

Tuck Blythe

Supporting Bex Hale, Place 3

On first meeting Bex Hale, I was impressed with her friendliness, energy, positive outlook, and inquiring mind. But when Hale decided to run for School Board those qualifications, though nice, were not enough for me. Because it’s fair to assume that Bex and the other candidates are running because they care about the education of children, voters need to know, “What else can they bring to the table?” Here’s what my “fact-finding” tour of the internet revealed -- Bex Hale’s accomplishments are outstanding in the truest sense of the word. It’s not possible to list everything she’s done in the word limit of this letter, so let me touch on just a few. Some of you have heard she was on TV - she was. But let me ask, how many of you would have willingly given up such fame and fortune to move to a little Texas town in order to focus on family? Bex did. How many of you have run businesses with nearly 100 employees generating millions in income? Bex did. How about donating your time to help non-profit entities at the local, national, and global level? Bex did. Why does any of the above matter in terms of her ability to serve our community as a School Board member? Because her experience has taught her how to work with all kinds of people to accomplish all manner of goals. Because she understands that children need a well-rounded educational experience in order to thrive. Because she honestly doesn’t care about your politics or how long you’ve lived here or who you know, but she is passionate about giving every WISD child the best educational experience possible. Bex Hale has earned my vote, so I urge you -- when you vote November 6, mark your ballot for Hale!

Pam Showalter

I met Bex over 20 years ago. She was a recent college graduate, filled with optimism and determination. She had an idea to help people in need and was going to Mexico to put her plan into action. I witnessed the blood, sweat and tears she poured into her work and the incredible results it yielded.

I saw Bex personally lift individuals, families and entire villages out of poverty and help them go into business for themselves. I followed the stories of those she helped like Ramon, who made beautiful pottery and lived in a dirt floor home without electricity or running water. Bex gifted Ramon a kiln and other materials that afforded him the ability to run a sustainable business. She mentored him. She encouraged him. She told his story. Bex sold his pottery in the U.S. and enabled him to build his family a modern home and send his sister and children to school. Bex also funded the education of 17 children in his village. I witnesses her changing lives in this way around the world and build a massive business doing it.

Bex sold the products from the talented artisans she worked with in her store, Relics Home. It was not only the coolest shop in town, but a hub of goodness for the community. She was always at the center of community events, hosting fundraisers for nonprofits, creating events to support local small businesses and engaging in educational opportunities that helped spread her message of service to others.

Bex is a spitfire. A go-getter. A brilliant force to be reckoned with. She is a passionate advocate for ALL children, not just in the community, but world wide. What a blessing it would be to have her on school board.

Lacey Miller

I am writing in support of Bex Hale for WISD school board. I have gotten to know Bex over the last several years and I have found her to be an honest woman of integrity. If you look beyond her business acumen, active commitment to our community, and fresh ideas, she brings something to the table that few actually can: passionate neutrality. We do a disservice to our children when we bring politics into the conversation, especially when that conversation should be about them. Bex has clearly stated and shown that she wants to be in service to our kids, and find common ground with anyone who wants to do the same. This is such a breath of fresh air for those of us tired of negative campaigns and purposeful misinformation. I love that she wants to fight for better solutions to STAAR, which hinders so many of our children and their already-overworked teachers. I’m thrilled she is talking about the realities of the future, a future that our children aren’t prepared for and that we can’t imagine, and how we can better prepare them in our schools and community through innovation and teamwork. She wants to address bullying, arts integration, the needs of our students with disabilities, and finding creative ways to raise capital in our district. She’s level-headed, enthusiastic, empathetic, and tenacious. I think her energy and drive plus strong financial oversight and willingness to reach across the aisle would serve our school board very well. As a mother, entrepreneur, volunteer, community member, and world traveler, I think Bex sits at a unique intersection with talents that would invigorate the school board and, in turn, our district. Please join me in voting for Bex this November, a true champion for children and a hardworking advocate for education.

Toni Jenkins

I met Rebecca “Bex” Hale five years ago, soon after she arrived on Wimberley’s doorstep. I have discovered that she is a passionate, caring, contributing member of this world we live in. Bex Hale believes in a life of service. Service to her family as well as others.

Professionally she was exposed to and subsequently addressed poverty in third world countries helping artisans go into business for themselves. She funded the primary education of seventeen children in Guadalajara and aided women’s groups in Thailand.

After the Wimberley flood, she spent four months in full-time volunteer service which included washing the muddy clothes of flood victims. She spent the next eighteen months donating 50% of her time helping many victims put their homes back together. She raised over fifteen thousand dollars for one family that lost everything.

She is apolitical, putting her desire to serve and help our children above everything else. Her goals are that they have the greatest opportunities, the finest schools, and the finest teachers to achieve their highest potential. This desire is best explained in Bex’s own words (taken from her blog) which impressed me greatly when I read them.

“This is something I’d like to emphasize during this school board campaign: Being in service to others, regardless of their story. Politics are such a hot topic these days, and definitely a big part of our identity, but it’s just one piece of a larger picture. Texans are strong. We have unwavering faith. We understand the importance of community. We take care of and look out for each other. I strongly believe education and the future of our children can transcend political affiliation. We all want our children to get a good education, discover their talents, and go forth into the world with confidence.” Bex Hale

Charlotte Caldwell

My friend Bex Hale is running for seat 3 of the WISD School Board.

If you haven’t met Bex yet or are currently uncertain who you should vote for this November, visit her website - BexHale.com - and get to know her better.

Having been a teacher for over 15 years (9 at the high school level), I’m familiar with how hard the job that the School Board has trying to balance the needs of the admin, the teachers and most importantly the students.

While a high school teacher, I taught both academic (English 1 - 4, Spanish 1-3, and French 1-3), artistic (Graphic Arts, Advanced Journalism/Yearbook), tech (Web Design and Game Design) and athletics (volleyball coach).

I care deeply about a well rounded and balanced education.

I applaud Bex’ efforts to keep the balance!!!

This job takes great love and dedication which Bex has in spades.

But more to the point, the board members must have a passion for helping all kids fulfill their dreams and a vision to help them reach their full potential be it academic, artistic or otherwise and to harness all skills equally.

I think you’ll find that she is the best candidate for seat 3.

Bex has got my vote!

Daniel Bisett

Woodcreek City Council

Supporting

Jeff Rasco

My husband, Gary, and I are endorsing Jeff Rasco because he shares our view that Woodcreek should remain the friendly, funky little village we discovered when we began planning a move from Dallas in 2005. As soon as we got settled, I volunteered to help with the Woodcreek beautification committee and Gary became very active in the Men’s Golf Association. We love this place and still believe we found the bestkept secret in the entire state of Texas!

Jeff and his wife have been special friends since we became acquainted with Monica at the library and I began working with Jeff when he was on the City Council. Jeff is running for another term on the council because he is dedicated to preserving the character of Woodcreek. He wants to maintain a culture of “transparency” here, and he plans to see that we improve our parks and green spaces. He also believes that we should all work toward a unified water system for the entire region, even if our generation does not live to see that happen! Please join us in voting for Jeff Rasco on November 6, 2018.

Thank you,

Nan Booth Simpson and Gary Harlow

Voting is important, so vote for Jeff Rasco for Woodcreek City Council this November 6th. Jeff is a great listener, problem solver, and leader for all of us. He devotes time and effort working in our community through several local groups. He has experience on many committees, providing sound judgment and follow through, therefore, Jeff understands how local government works – and doesn’t . I especially appreciate Jeff’s thoughtful leadership and strong work ethic. He’s approachable and engaged. Jeff is genuinely committed to governing well. Please vote--your voice matters.

Teresa Smetzer

I worked at Woodcreek City Hall for over ten years as City Administrator and saw a lot of councilmembers come and go. Frequently, people ran for office because they had an issue that they wanted to address. Often, that one issue turned out to be the only issue they cared to address. These people usually came in mad and left mad.

Jeff was level headed and refreshingly even tempered. He was hard working, intelligent and great at finding innovating compromises to complicated situations. He devoted a great deal of time to his position. Jeff has the ability to mediate situations and find solutions.

Jeff will be an asset to the Woodcreek Council and the residents of Woodcreek. Vote for a proven representative I know will work hard for you.

Aurora LeBrun

Aurora LeBrun is a candidate for re-election to the Woodcreek City Council. I have had the privilege of working with Aurora in various leadership roles in the Wimberley Civic Club for several years. I appreciate her professional approach to her responsibilities and applaud her willingness to volunteer her time and expertise to various organizations, including her recent service on Woodcreek’s Council. I have found her to be well organized, efficient, a clear communicator, and a woman of integrity. She researches topics to be discussed and problems to be addressed, and she steps in to offer her talents when needed. I have watched her reach out to those in need, most recently when we had water problems in Woodcreek. She was quickly on line communicating information as it was made known. She offered multiple times to take water that was available at our city hall to those who could not get there. She gave her personal cell phone number out publicly for those who might need assistance or information. And she followed through with that communication until the problem was solved. I appreciate people like Aurora who are willing and capable of helping guide organizations in our community, including the Woodcreek City Council. She has my vote for her re-election.

Nancy Williams

I am writing in support of Aurora LeBrun’s re-election to the Woodcreek City Council. I worked with Aurora in obtaining the Wimberley Civic Club’s 501(c)3 status while she was president of that organization and we currently serve as volunteers together at the Wimberley Village Store where she is the manager of the Boutique in Dobie House. And, as a resident of Woodcreek, I have appreciated and respected her work on City Council, just one more of her many volunteer commitments to serve the Wimberley/ Woodcreek community. I personally know her to be conscientious, diligent and committed to whatever the task at hand. Whenever presented with a difficult issue, Aurora can be counted upon to give a thoughtful response that clearly outlines the problems and possible solutions to address them. When I have asked questions about Woodcreek, I have found her answers to be straightforward and to the point. During the latest disruptions concerning our water supply, Aurora kept us informed and personally took a role in seeing that those who needed bottled water got it. I, for one, appreciated knowing there was someone I could turn to for answers as they became available. I will be voting for Aurora in November as I know I can count on her to represent my interests and concerns within the council and that she will do so for others as well.

Supporting Cyndi Jackson

I am writing today in support of Cyndi Jackson for Woodcreek City Council. In the interest of full disclosure, I am Cyndi’s husband, but that isn’t why I am endorsing her. I know Cyndi to be a woman of exceptional honesty and integrity, who has a deep concern for the community of Woodcreek and a passion for making it as good as it can possibly be for all its residents. Her years as a professional project manager have given her exceptional management, planning, and communication skills. Most of all, though, Cyndi cares about the people of Woodcreek and the future of our community. She can be counted on to support decisions that are fair, and beneficial to everyone on every issue. She is the right person at the right time for Woodcreek.

Glenn Jackson

I would like to endorse Cyndi Jackson for the Woodcreek City Council.

Ms. Jackson worked for me as Director of Member Services at the Texas Daily Newspaper Association when I was Executive Vice President. Ms. Jackson would be a big asset to Woodcreek on the City Council. She is a very hard worker and embraces innovative solutions to problems. She can be counted on to put the best interests of the city first and look for ways to save taxpayer dollars. As part of a fast-growing area facing problems that growth can bring, I can think of no person better suited to serve Woodcreek than Cyndi Jackson.

Thank you,

Ken Whalen
