Letters to the Editor

I met Debra Hines two years ago when she was first running for Woodcreek City Council. I have found her to be very honest and I gotta say - really smart.

Two years ago there were horror stories of how the citizens were treated by those at City Hall. It was very hard to get cooperation from the (former) mayor and staff, particularly getting building permits. In too many instances the sheriff’s office was called when there was building permit confusion. And then there was an inspector who at one point carried a gun. The first thing that had to change was for City Hall to be professional and helpful.

As soon as Debra was sworn in, she started working. I was impressed with her fresh ideas and new projects - and always including citizens. The residents know they can count on Debra’s help and that she will follow through. And during an emergency - we all know Debra will be on the frontline until the very end.

Two of Debra’s first concerns are traffic and pedestrians’ safety. Both of these have been a serious concern for residents and Debra has spearheaded getting additional radar signs approved. Debra was very involved on the road bond - and now we are seeing the improved new roads!

Let’s not go backwards - we now have a well run city hall. With more citizens involved with City Hall and a hardworking council a lot has gotten done! The last council said the new council was working too hard. That’s not Debra’s way!
