Letters to the Editor

I just read Managing Editor Madi Telschow’ s account of a physical attack on her at a June 15 Wimberley City Council meeting--an assault for which the attacker should have been charged. While Ms. Telschow’s discussion of sexual harassment was appreciated, I wish her story had been more about the assault on a member of the media who was in attendance doing her job. Tensions are high in America these days. Members of the news media have become convenient targets. There is no place in our public discourse for violence. I am further disappointed according to her reporting that nobody apparently felt the need to intervene, to confront and stop this person’s behavior. And why did a member of the city council who apparently witnessed this not act to stop or report it? If any of this is found on videotape, it is not too late to Report it to the police and file charges. Sexual harassment yes.. But this incident extends beyond that to an assault which is totally unacceptable.
