Letters to the Editor

Congressman Roger Williams is available

I was astonished to read a recent letter that insinuated that out Congressman, Roger Williams does not visit Wimberley or listen to our concerns. This is blatantly false.

Our area has never seen the kind of attention from a federal official like we have from Congressman Williams. Since the first day he took office, he has visited Wimberley countless times.

On multiple occasions, I have personally witnessed the congressman walking the town square, visiting with business owners and citizens openly and hearing their concerns about what is going on in Washington D.C.

I have run in to him at the Wimberley Café, not only when attending the Chamber of Commerce breakfast meetings, but often simply enjoying lunch. Whatever the occasion, Congressman Williams always takes time to visit with folks, hand them his business card and hear their thoughts.

I have seen him walking our streets in our Fourth of July parade and visiting with our veterans at our local VFW.

And let’s not forget, following the Memorial Day Flood of 2015, not only was Congressman Williams one of the first here offering to help, he was the last one to leave. He and his staff set up a satellite office right here in town where every day for over two months they met with citizens and helped them cut through the onerous red tape to received federal assistance.

And when we needed it the most, it was Congressman Roger Williams who declared to the world: “Wimberley is Open for Business!”

The writer contradicts himself when he admits to receiving responses to his letters. Further, isn’t the mere fact that a congressman sends out an email asking for your opinion on various issues in and of itself if listening? However, let’s not let facts get in the way of your efforts to sound the dog whistle to the resistance.

There’s no doubt that Congressman Roger Williams loves and works hard for Wimberley. And Wimberley is thankful and loves him back.

Sincerely,

Bob Parks
