LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

KOWO is home of local sports radio

My name is Tammy Kelley and my husband along with our three son’s moved to the Wimberley Valley in 2007. We moved here because it was our dream as parents to raise our children in a community with a big heart and boy did we pick the right place. We have been very blessed to meet and associate with many wonderful people through the local church community and the Wimberley School district over the 12 years we have been living here. As our boys were growing up here in Wimberley and playing sport it was some of the best memories we have as a family and I know we will cherish them for a lifetime. Might I add that we were one of those crazy sports loving families, and being an athlete runs very deep in our family history.

Neal and I had the pleasure of being part of a start up locally owed and operated radio station right here in Wimberley Texas since 2010. We have been involved and board members from the start. This was something Neal and I felt very passionate about being we had athletes and how exciting it was for us to have our boys games being covered. We had many family members who could not attend the games but could pick up the live broadcast and following the Texans all season long. KOWO Radio is a 501c3 not-forprofit organization called Wimberley Texan Radio which has been broadcasting Wimberley Texan football since 2010 with over 100 games covered in the past 10 years. KOWO has been fully committed to the Wimberley community as we built a successful radio station, with hard work covering all these games in all sorts of conditions. Our experience and proven record has demonstrated our dedication to making sure the Wimberley Texan games are on air live for the Wimberley Valley and for family members who live far away - to be able to tune in to hear play by play by one of the top sports commentators in Central Texas with Mike Blackwell and Wimberley’s own Jarred Robinson. KOWO is not only dedicated to broadcasting Wimberley football but we have also been covering Texan Baseball for 4 years and last year we covered some softball games as well. This year we are working on broadcasting and streaming Wimberley Basketball (boy/girl), Baseball, Softball, Soccer and other sporting events. Sports is KOWO’s specialty as we have proven, and just as our family was blessed to hear our son’s names being spoken over the airwaves, we know KOWO has been a blessing to many Wimberley Texan families over the years.

I understand that there has been some miss information given about KOWO aka Wimberley Texan Radio that we are not local but from Dripping Springs, but I am here to correct any miss informed and wrong talk about KOWO and say that we are local right here in the Wimberley Valley. We are looking forward to the 2019 sports season and hope you will tune in.

GO TEXANS!

Tammy Kelley
