Falling into autumn events with KWB

Are you ready for fall yet? This time of year, Keep Wimberley Beautiful tries to tend to smaller projects that do not involve its volunteers being outside too much.

KWB is looking forward to some cooler weather and the start of its fall activities. This fall, there is again expected to be a community roadside clean up event with Adopt-a-Highway groups. This time of year, it is just so hard to get out and pick up those items with such high temperatures. Fortunately, the group has had some volunteers picking up spots that needed immediate attention.

In addition, KWB will be hosting a Shred It day and a Drug Take Back event soon. The events will be combined so that they are on the same date and time. You can drive up and drop off your unused or expired medications safely with the constables — and then drive forward to the Shred It truck and dispose of those confidential and/or unwanted documents that have been piling up in your home.

The Boy Scouts will also be helping. KWB volunteers said they are thankful for these young men volunteering every year for Shred It and for the co-sponsorship of Ozona Bank.

In the past, community members have inquired about the confidentiality of dropping off their items.

The constables take possession of the drugs, and once a box is filled, it is sealed and kept in their possession until they transfer it to the Drug Enforcement Agency office where it is incinerated. As for Shred It, you can stay and watch the truck shred your documents through the video screen. KWB volunteers are on hand to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible.

Shred It and Drug Take Back will take place Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 200 Stillwater in Wimberley (outside the Constable’s Office).
