Supporting Jeff McDorman

WISD School Board

Supporting Jeff McDorman

We first met Jeff Mc-Dorman in 2011 when we moved to Wimberley. We knew he was going to be an important factor to a successful family transition to Texas as he would be the first mentor figure for our then sophomore son, J.J. Weeks. We initially found Jeff to be kind and welcoming.

Little did we know, Jeff would have a positive impact on our family over the next 7 years. One trait we discovered with Jeff is he is the toughest and most demanding coach, person, and leader with which our son has come in contact to date. The result was my J.J. grew as a leader, a person, and had an admiration for Jeff like no other in his 16 years of education. Lisa and I were puzzled by the extraordinary respect J.J. had for Jeff even with what we felt was some of the strongest and demanding leadership any of our children have ever faced.

I was so in awe of his leadership that I had to explore the why of this profound and growing respect alongside an elevated challenging environment – Jeff’s response was simple, precise, and decisive – “it’s because J.J. knows I love him!”

In addition to the coaching experience, our 2nd son, Jojo, had Jeff as a teacher and a football coach. Again, we found Jeff to be the same great leader with J.J.

I am extremely confident that Jeff will be a relentlessly diligent leader as a Wimberley School Board member. While at the same time every student, administrator, teacher, and staff will absolutely KNOW that Jeff McDorman loves them. Please let it be known that Greg and Lisa Weeks provide our most heartfelt endorsement of Jeff Mc-Dorman as an elected Wimberley School Board Member!

Thanks,

Greg Weeks

I am writing a letter of reference for a man who I know as a friend, colleague, father, and husband. Jeff has been a great example of character, integrity, hard work, and commitment as long as I have known him. He and his wife have been educators and involved with school districts for over 30 years. He and Susan have raised three fine sons and two have graduated from WISD.I was fortunate to teach and coach with him for 10 years at two different school districts. His ability to work with students, faculty, and community is a positive and would serve him well in Wimberley. He has been a leader and understands the importance of policy and budget in making WISD a continued great school district and community. I believe his desire to help students achieve and see the education process be improved is a skill set that we all want to see in our board leaders.

Jeff wants to serve the students, teachers, and community of Wimberley and see one of the best school districts and communities continue to have great success.

I would strongly recommend Jeff Mc-Dorman for a position on the Wimberley ISD Board of Education.

Sincerely,

Weldon Nelms (Former Athletic Director / Head Football Coach WISD)

Jeff McDorman was one of the first people to welcome my family to Wimberley. I met Jeff for the first time when I was working at WHS before my kids and family ever moved into the district. He was the type of person that just drew you in with his sincerity and personality. When I moved my boys to Wimberley and then later moved the entire family, it was Jeff who invited my boys to participate in his basketball camp. Over the last 10 years I have grown to know Jeff Mc-Dorman as a man who truly cares about the kids he coached and taught. I watched him as he coached and cared for everyone in his program.

In my opinion, Jeff McDorman exemplifies what WISD should be about. He never put himself above the kids. And he always valued each member of a team or each student in his classes just as important as the other. His motto with his team was “5 as 1”, meaning all 5 players on the basketball court would play as 1 unit. That is a philosophy that translates well to someone aspiring to be on the school board. It takes everyone working together to make a school district successful. I can say as the child of an former educator in this school district, that is a philosophy that this district was built on. Community, family, and togetherness were all a part of the original missions of this district. Jeff is a selfless person and will do an outstanding job upholding these goals.

I have no question that Jeff’s pursuit of this position is and will be for the benefit of our students.

I can’t think of another person more suited for the challenges of serving our students than Jeff McDorman.
