The Gold Dust boutique in Wimberley’s Quarter Shops received Keep Wimberley Beautiful’s community award for its artistic and well-maintained exterior plantings. While handing over the traveling award, President Lin Weber, KWB’s President said, “We appreciate what you do for Wimberley.”
Robert Moreman worked behind the scenes to support the community he called home, volunteering with several local nonprofit organizations during the 10 years he lived in Wimberley. In his honor, the Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance created a scholarship in 2021 to provide opportunities for budding artists and tradespeople. Every year, the Robert Moreman Memorial Scholarship is awarded to deserving students who are passionate about their creative endeavors.
The Hays County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that a juvenile was arrested in connection to a generic threat on Oct. 16, that referenced school violence was imminent and which was sent out via social media applications.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars is once again holding its annual scholarship programs, offering up to $35,000 at the national level, paid directly to the U.S. college, university or vocational/technical school of the winner’s choice. The Voice of Democracy audio-essay program for high schoolers in grades 9–12 is soliciting submissions under the theme “What Are the Greatest Attributes of Our Democracy?” VFW Post 6441 awards first, second and third prizes of $2000, $1500 and $1000 respectively, with state-level awards up to $10,000. The grand prize at the national level is $35,000.
