First Baptist Church COVID-19 changes

Amid current federal, state, and county mandates regarding COVID-19, First Baptist Church Wimberley has prepared a process to assist members, guests, and the Wimberley community stay connected during these anxious times. Church leaders suspended certain events, redirected others, and set systems in place to allow worship individually or together as families and in virtual small groups. The church offers information updates, support, teaching, and resources in safe, accessible video and email formats in an effort to avoid meeting in large gatherings all from the website online at fbcwimberley.com.

For the next few weeks, the church is streaming both the 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship Gatherings without the congregation present. Pastor Scott Weatherford continues to preach from his See the Promises of God series which culminates on Easter Sunday. Worship streams live on the church’s FBC Wimberley Facebook page and through the church’s website at fbcwimberley. com. Families are encouraged to watch together in homes while worshiping in a “house church” atmosphere with materials posted to the website’s LIVE MESSAGES page.

Pastor Weatherford is producing two “virus” videos each week entitled “From Fear to Faith,” keeping Wimberley informed about next steps for the church and providing insight and inspiration. These videos will be uploaded to First Baptist’s YouTube channel and can be found under the “From Fear to Faith” tab on the church’s Home page. The Shout Out – an email blast available to anyone signing up at the bottom of the Home page – is utilized to give updates from the church in line with Hays County, Wimberley, and the City of Woodcreek officials and their directives.

All formal meetings on campus, such as Family Life (ministries to kids, students, and families,) Men@First and Women@ First Ministry events, and all on-campus small groups have been paused until further notice. Small groups are encouraged to meet via Zoom, Facetime, or other apps. If assistance is required, call the church office at 512-847-9035.

Church leaders will continue to reassess government mandates and apply safe practices in determining how best to assist its members and the Wimberley community.
