Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce Events Listings

The Wimberley Valley Art League announces its next juried show which will be a hybrid show. The juror is Austin artist Joseph Hammer. The show begins on Thursday, April 7 at the Wimberley community center. This show will continue until Tuesday, July 12. The show will also be available on line at wimberleyvalleyartleague.org. The show will feature 50 works by local talented artists. Check our website for more information about the show. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes will be awarded and we will have an honorable mention category. All submissions will be for sale so if you are interested in obtaining great original art from our talented members, this is your chance to do so. Not all artists will be represented at this show but you can access other artists on our website by clicking on the members gallery. There is great art to be viewed and most are for sale. Doug is a young, high-spirited pup. He is always very excited to meet all the other residents at the refuge, and he loves to run and wrestle. Doug has been working on learning his doggy manners from some of the older dogs he’s been introduced to and he is an apt pupil and quick learner. He would love an active family. Doug a hound mix, is seven months old and weighs 36 pounds. If you are interested in Doug or any other dog, fill out a WAG adoption application at www.wimberleywagrescue.org or call 512-847-3200.

Market Day makes music

The hills will be alive with the sound of music as Wimberley Market Day occurs on Saturday, April 2. An outstanding lineup of popular music makers take the three stages at Lions Field to help usher in the spring season in Wimberley. On the Pavilion Stage is the always popular Little Beverly and the Shades whose renditions of popular rock and roll classics will get you up on your feet and dancing. Their renditions of 50s and 60s classics is a perfect match for a beautiful spring day at Wimberley Market Day. On the Shady Grove Stage is the rock star and home-grown dynamo Lance Lipinsky whose versions of rock and roll hits never fails to please his audience. Born and raised in Wimberley, Lipinsky exhibits an energetic musical persona inspired from the past, carrying on the timeless tradition of mid-century Rock & Roll music. Phoenix Jordan plays the Hill Top Stage in a way that makes you happy and helps you enjoy Market Day. All the music is free at Market Day and goes naturally with a cool drink and delicious Market Day food. The music begins on each stage around 11 a.m.

The Great Wimberley Clean Up

Around 50 Keep Wimberley Beautiful and community volunteers walked the roadways of Wimberley as part of the Great American Clean Up on March 19. Approximately 150 large trash bags were filled. Wimberley Lions Club volunteers also managed a large item free drop off dumpster at Lions Field that was brought in by the city of Wimberley. The next event will be held in the fall.

Local chefs come together for KAPS fundraiser

Katherine Anne Porter School will host a Chefs Dinner Fundraiser April 9 at the Wimberley VFW Post 6441 from 6 pm. to 8:30 p.m. featuring four of Wimberley’s top restaurant chefs, with kitchen support from the student chefs in KAPS’ after school cooking program. At $35 a plate, the evening of high-end dining is sure to sell out quickly, so plan to arrive early or - better yet - buy your tickets online in advance.

First Baptist Church COVID-19 changes

Amid current federal, state, and county mandates regarding COVID-19, First Baptist Church Wimberley has prepared a process to assist members, guests, and the Wimberley community stay connected during these anxious times. Church leaders suspended certain events, redirected others, and set systems in place to allow worship individually or together as families and in virtual small groups. The church offers information updates, support, teaching, and resources in safe, accessible video and email formats in an effort to avoid meeting in large gatherings all from the website online at fbcwimberley.com.
