Hays taxes are too darn high
In helping a client with a tax issue involving Travis and Hays County, I was surprised to learn how much higher property taxes are in Hays County for the same value home. Some may think it’s because of skyrocketing tax appraisals, but that is not true. Hays County homeowners’ taxes are higher than necessary (and higher than those in Travis County) because your Hays officials, especially the Commissioners Court and School Boards have not adopted the 20% homestead exemption authorized by Texas Tax Code section 11.13(n). By comparison, Travis County, the City of Austin, and Lake Travis ISD have adopted it.

When Blue Hole Regional Park was originally constructed, the trail that winds through the park was not properly graded the larger slopes. That, combined with decomposed granite laid on top of weed barrier cloth, has caused severe washout to portions of the trail during heavier rain events.

Keep It Beautiful the Natural Way
A friend recently mentioned that, because of her allergies, she must go inside anytime her husband sprays outside. I hope you will join me in doing it the natural way by making your own herbicides and pesticides that will not bother humans and will kill only the undesired plants or insects. Any treatment that kills indiscriminately interferes with our food chain, and that is potentially harmful to species like us at the top of the chain. Spot spraying with safe products is much safer for all of us and should be the Wimberley Way.
