Volleyball on top of district standings

The Texan volleyball was back on the road this week during district play as they traveled to Fredericksburg and Canyon Lake.

In the first district game, Wimberley traveled to Fredericksburg to take on the Battln’ Billies. After winning the first set in an exciting 30-28 win, the Texans won the next two sets 25-16, 25-19.

After defeating Fredericksburg, Wimberley traveled to Canyon Lake to take on the rival Hawks. With the football team off this week, a big crowd was on hand for the Texans as they filled up the visiting stands.

With both teams undefeated in district play at 2-0, the game having major district implications tied to it on top of the game being a major rivalry.

After winning the first set 25-23, the Texans dropped the second set in a riveting 27-25 loss. Dominating the third set 25-14, Wimberley couldn’t put away Canyon Lake in the fourth set losing 25-20 and led to a decisive fifth set.

Up 15-14 in the fifth set, the Texans block the finally attempt from the Hawks and won the set 16-14.

Wimberley improves their district record to 3-0 and are the lone undefeated team in district. The Texans go on the road again this week as they take on Bandera and Boerne.
