Texans finish week with back-to-back wins

Following their district loss to Boerne, the Texans needed a huge bounce back in order to stay in the playoff race.

Back at home, the Texans squared off with the visiting Llano Yellow Jackets in a must win for both teams.

The first quarter turned into a high scoring affair as both teams raced out to fast starts. At the end of the period, Wimberley gained the upper hand as they led the Yellowjackets 17-11 in the first quarter.

The defense stepped up their game in the second quarter as the Texans held the Yellowjackets to just six points during the period. While the defense held firm, the offense continued to dominate. By halftime, Wimberley extended the lead to thirteen points up 30-17.

The Texan offense continued their onslaught of Llano scoring 17 points during the period while holding the Jackets to just 11.

The Wimberley defense held firm during the fourth quarter as the Texans shutdown the Llano offense and cruised to victory with a 60- 34 win.

Houston Murphy finished the game with a double-double and led the team in scoring with 14 points and rebounds with 14 as well. Ethan Schleder and Ty Cabler also scored in double figures scoring 12 and 11 points.

Wimberley finished off the week with a road trip to Canyon Lake in the Battle of the Backbone.

As with their battle with Llano, the contest between the Texans and the Hawks turned into a heated contest with the playoffs on the line.

Both the Hawks and the Texans raced off to fast starts in first quarter with neither team relenting the lead. By the end of the first quarter, Wimberley led Canyon Lake by one up 18- 17.

Scoring output slowed down bit in the second quarter as Canyon Lake and Wimberley failed to score double digits during the period. At halftime, the Texans still led the Hawks by a small margin up 27-26.

The third quarter turned to be a pivotal moment for both teams. Wimberley jumped all over Canyon Lake during the period scoring 17 points.
