Texans bounce back with pair of victories

After a tough San Marcos tournament, the Wimberley Texans volleyball team bounced back into the win column with a pair of victories this week against Pflugerville and Burnet.

The Texans improved their overall record to 15-6.

Tuesday night saw Wimberley travel to Pflugerville to take on the Panthers.

The matchup was a rematch from the San Marcos tournament which Pflugerville won 2-0.

This time it was Wimberley extracting revenge as the Texans swept the Panthers 3-0 (25-19, 25-10, 25-19).

Leading the team in kills was Cameren Davis with 16 while Emily Thames led the team in digs with 21.

Thames also led the team in aces along with Maddy Harris and Paige Crawford as the trio had two aces each.

Laney Hennesse held the net with two blocks while Jesse Weeks led the team in assists with 27.

Friday Wimberley traveled to Burnet to battle the Bulldogs.

The Texans were victorious as they defeated the Bulldogs winning 3-1 (20-25, 25-11, 25-14, 25-23).

Davis led the team in kills with 16 while Weeks led the team in assists with 34.

Weeks also led the team in aces along with Ellie Marko with two.

Reese Pirtle led the team in blocks with three while Harris led the team in digs with 18.

Wimberley is back home for the two games for their first home game some August 17th.

The Texans host Cedar Creek on Tuesday before hosting Cuero on Friday night.
