Swimming and diving sends two to regionals

Freshman Caroline “Coco” Proctor qualified for regionals in two events at the District 18-5A Swimming and Diving Meet and junior Harrison Mayhew advanced to regionals in the 1-meter diving event.

Wimberley swimmers competed against Boerne Champion, Buda Johnson, Dripping Springs, Kyle Lehman, Fredericksburg, and Boerne at the District 18-5A District Meet on January 29 in San Antonio. (The diving meet took place on Jan. 22.) Top-4 finishers at the district meet advanced to the Region V meet in Friendswood on Feb. 5-6.

Proctor finished as district champion in the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 59.37, nearly a full 1.5 seconds ahead of the second place swimmer. Proctor also qualified in the 200 yard individual medley by finishing in second place in that event in a time of 2:16.13. Mayhew finished in fourth place in the one-meter diving event with a cumulative score of 195.75.
