Hall signs to run at Mississippi College

After helping the Lady Texans track team qualify for the State Track Meet, Haley Hall is taking her talents to the next level.

But rather than stay in Texas, Hall is leaving for the Magnolia State.

Hall signed her letter of intent December 1 as she will run for the Mississippi College Choctaws of the Gulf South Conference where Hall will run the trio of Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track.

For Hall, it was an exciting day the moment she woke up.

“It’s been really exciting,” Hall said. “Woke up super excited, and I’m glad I got to sign the paper and send it off.”

Despite being 577 miles from home, Mississippi College still felt like home to Hall.

“The atmosphere, the people, the way the coaches and the girls were to me just felt like home,” Hall said. “The coaches have been contacting me for awhile, stayed in contact with me and it led to a good thing.”

It’s been fun, Hall said. “There are some hard days, especially mentally, but overall when you have a good team surrounding you it’s easier to get through it.”

Hall was a part of the 2021 Wimberley Lady Texan track team that captured many trophies last season including Regional Runner-Ups while also running at the State Track Meet as a part of the Lady Texans Mile Relay team.

For Hall, track is different from cross country because of the added team aspect of the races.

“It’s completely different from Cross Country,” Hall said. “It’s more of a team aspect than individual. You get to rely on others, but also improve on what you can do on the track, which is kinda cool.”

With being a part of the Wimberley track team, their push and drive has helped Hall make it to the next level.

“Being pushed hard by the coaches,” Hall said. “Though we aren’t indoor, it has helped me get a push.”
