Crawford reaches career milestone

Wimberley Texans volleyball continued their non-district stretch last week as they were on the road at Geronimo Navarro and hosting La Vernia.

In their road game against Navarro, the Texans and the Panthers battled in a hard fought five set match.

The Texans were able to overcome the Panthers, however, winning the important fifth set in a dominant 15-6 win to seal a 3-2 victory (25-14, 25-22, 20-25, 16-25, 15-6).

Paige Crawford led the team in both kills and aces with 18 and three a piece while Layla Dubuisson held the net with five blocks.

Jesse Weeks led the team in assists with 29 with Peyton Helbig led the team in digs with 20.

The Texans were back at home on Friday as they hosted the La Vernia Bears.

Unfortunately for the Texans, their five game winning streak was broken as La Vernia came home with the win at 3-1 (11-25, 25-20, 16-25, 23-25).

Crawford again led the team in kills with 17 while also leading the team in blocks along with Cameren Davis with the duo having three blocks each.

Crawford led the team in aces as well along with Emily Thames as the duo had two apiece.

Thames also led the team in digs with 20 while Ellie Marko led the team in assists with 17.

But the night was not all sour for the Texans.

While capturing her 1,000 kill early in the season, Crawford added another statistic into the 1k club as she recorded her 1,000th dig of her career.

The Wake Forest commit continues to reach some historic milestones as she looks to finish her high school career strong.

The Texans wrap up non-district play at home against New Braunfels Christian Academy before kicking off district play on the road against rival Canyon Lake.
