    VINCENT J. LAROCCA

Vincent J. LaRocca

December 9, 1936 – August 29, 2021

Vincent Jordan LaRocca, beloved husband, father, and PawPaw, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at the age of 84. After several years of declining health, he passed peacefully at home from this world and into eternal life in heaven.

Vince was born on December 9, 1936, in Bryan, Texas to Joseph and Lena LaRocca. He grew up in Stafford and Missouri City, Texas where he enjoyed playing high school football and boxed at the Golden Gloves gym.

Vince worked 40 years with the Hussmann Corporation providing continuous and dedicated service. He began his career at Hussmann after graduating high school and eventually worked into sales and became the district manager of the San Antonio area. As a young man, he believed that “hard work pays quality dividends,” and his positive attitude and client service earned him many corporate accolades, including the president’s award. Then during retirement, he worked part-time for several years for Arnold Refrigeration in San Antonio while living in Wimberley, TX.

In 1983, Vince married the love of his life, Carolyn. They dreamed of moving to “God’s Country”, Wimberley, Texas, and made it their home in 1996. While living in Wimberley, he was actively involved in the community and Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church. He especially enjoyed volunteering with the Lion’s Club and always strived to be the #1 brisket cutter at Market Days. A road in Woodcreek was even named LaRocca Ln for his many contributions to the city.

Vince LaRocca, a man who was solid as a rock, had a passion to serve his church family and the Lord. He envisioned and directed the development of the nature trail, outdoor chapel, and labyrinth at Saint Stephen’s with a group of men who called themselves the Trailblazers. His work as a Trailblazer was his church legacy and was one of his greatest fulfillments in life.

Vince loved his family unconditionally and family was everything to him. He was always a supportive father, devoted PawPaw, and enduring husband who was an example of how to love and care for all family members. He is survived by his precious wife, Carolyn of 38 years; daughters Lori and Leanne LaRocca; son Robert LaRocca; stepdaughter Laura Hart and husband Glenn; granddaughter Alicia Styers and husband Grant; grandsons Bo Martinez, Zachary and Aaron Hart; great granddaughter Stella Paige Styers and soon to be baby boy Styers; sisters Marie Barnes and husband Larry, and Jewel Maida and husband Joe; and other extending family, including nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Lena LaRocca; brother Billy LaRocca; and daughter Lisa LaRocca.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 2 at the Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley. Services will be held on Friday, September 3 at 10 a.m. at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Wimberley at the Outdoor Chapel, followed by burial and reception. Come casual and walk the trail he loved.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church - Trailblazers. He will be remembered as a Trail Blazer for his family and friends!
