Sylvia Furtick

Sylvia Furtick was a dynamic, enchanting and brilliant force of nature who died peacefully in Argyle, Texas on January 27th, 2021 of natural causes. Sylvia is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Don Furtick; son Ronald Furtick and his two children Yasmin Morrison and Richard Furtick; daughter Serra Smith, her husband Doug, and their three sons, Evan, Eli and Eamon.

Sylvia was born in 1933 to Edna and S.C. Wingard in McMinnville, Oregon. Sylvia graduated from Lakeview High School as Valedictorian in 1951. She attended the University of Oregon, graduating in 1955. Sylvia taught elementary school in Eugene and was, for a time, the star of Romper Room on Eugene television. Everyone that knew her was aware that Sylvia’s focus was always her family, her friends and her faith. For the past 32 years, Don and Sylvia regularly migrated as happy snowbirds from Eugene to Wimberley.
