Robert Luther Townsend

Robert Luther Townsend, age 88, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 in The Woodlands, Texas. He was born on July 25, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas to Helen and Luther Townsend. Robert grew up in the Coker Community in San Antonio on his father’s dairy farm, which developed a life long passion for God’s gift of nature. In his youth, he went to Mount Sacred Heart Boys School and then Jefferson High School. Afterwards, he attended San Antonio Junior College and earned his pilot’s license. Robert married the love of his life, Diane Joan Haschke, on November 19, 1949. The next 69 years, they built a beautiful family and life together. Robert loved his CB Radios and traveling with his wife, family and friends. He was also a hard worker, devoting 20 years to Sears Roebuck. He believed in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and attended Cowboys for Jesus Fellowship in Fischer, Texas.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Luther Townsend. He is survived by his wife, Diane H. Townsend; children, Steven R. Townsend, Kathleen V. Norvell and Mary C. Townsend; grandchildren, Marcus, Krystal, Matthew, Craig and Carrie; and great-grandchildren, Mallory, Leland, Westen, Madelyn and Stetson.
