ROBERT (BOB) W. WEBER, SR

ROBERT (BOB) W. WEBER, SR, 89, a Native Houstonian, died on September 6, 2021.  He was born in Mykawa (now Houston), Texas on January 19, 1932, the last of six children of Joseph Daniel Weber and Bertha Elizabeth Wiener.  He attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and St. Peter the Apostle Elementary School on O.S.T.  Bob graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1950.  He entered the seminary after high school, but heard God calling him in a different direction.  He returned to Houston and began his long career with Rex Supply Corp. on Harrisburg.  He married Mary Edna Madden, his childhood sweetheart and the boss’ daughter, on April 18, 1953 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.  In December 1953, Bob answered Uncle Sam’s call to duty in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was stationed in New Orleans, Louisiana for two years, being honorably discharged in December 1955. He returned to Houston and started working again for his father-in-law, retiring in 1995 after 44 years at Rex Supply, and moving to Wimberley, Texas (affectionately known as Weberville on Flite Acres Rd.) until his wife’s death in 2018.  Bob and Mary were former parishioners of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wimberley.  Bob loved Saturday evening dances, playing dominoes, an evening “toddy” of Jack and Coke, and praying the rosary every night with his wife before bed.

 

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 65 years, Mary Edna, siblings, Dan, Harry (Patsy), Joe (Blanche), Thelma Ellison (Tom), and Bert (Faye), and sisters-in-law, Ann Madden Landmesser (Larry), and Alice Madden Lossen, and brothers-in-law, Tom Hutcheson, John Burns, and Bill Madden, and great-granddaughter, Lily Butler.  He is survived by his children, Mary C. (Cathy) Weber Biediger (Deacon Larry), Robert Jr. (Griselda), Edna Weber Wilshusen (Richard), Margaret Weber Harris (Doug), Sharon Weber Bills (Steve), and Annette Weber Smith (Robbie), his grandchildren, Trey Biediger (Allison), Frank Biediger (Jessica), Rachel Biediger Harrison (Heath), Lauren Biediger (Jennifer), Meghan Weber Ellsworth (Brad), Brianna Rodriguez, Bianca Rodriguez, Dylan Wilshusen, Georgie Wilshusen, Chase Harris, Colby Harris, Austin Harris, Max Harris, Dalton Bills, Blake Bills, Audrey Smith, Luke Smith, Ava Smith, and Bo Smith, and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Betty Weber, Lucy Burns, Edna Berres (Paul), Bertha Hutcheson, and brothers-in-law, John Madden (Rita), Joe Lossen, and Joe Rick Madden (Jeannine), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

Visitation will be at Earthman’s Funeral Home-Hunters Creek, 8303 Katy Frwy, Houston, TX from 5-7 pm, Tuesday, September 14, 2021, with recitation of the Rosary following at 7 pm.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 11 am at St. Edith Stein Catholic Church, 3311 North Fry Rd., Katy, TX 77449, with reception following in the church hall.  Burial will be at 2 pm at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, TX.
