Norma G. Stiegler

Norma G. Stiegler went to be with her Lord on September 1, 2021 at the age of 86, after a long illness. Born to Overton Travis Gunnels, Sr. and Uldene Beatrice Hadley Gunnels of Houston, Texas, Norma is survived by son Paul K. Norris (wife Judy) of Houston; daughter Tracy J. Norris Bendele of Hondo; sister Connie J. Shows (husband Gerald/ Jerry) of Boerne. Surviving grandchildren and great-grandchildren are Alaina Schmidt Willis of San Antonio (husband Randy, children Hannah, Garrett, Rori, and Connor), Aric Schmidt of Comfort (wife Michelle, grandson Jarad) and Jacquelyn Bendele of Hondo (children Lilly, Evelyn and Gwen). She is also survived by

She is also survived by two nephews Travis A. Gunnels (wife Jennifer) of Kingwood and Kevin C. Shows of Houston; and niece Kelly J. Shows of Kennebunk, ME.

Preceded by husband and love of her life, Ralph C. Stiegler of Hondo; her parents, brother Overton Travis Gunnels, Jr. of Humble, and beloved grandson Jason Kyle Norris of Houston – Norma graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1954. After moving to San Antonio, she dedicated a decade of her career life to Southwest Research Institute, Chemical Engineering Department.

Norma loved the Hill Country. She married Ralph and moved to the Triple R family ranch where they were very happy. She attended United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Garden Club and Hondo Art League. Norma was a key committee member, responsible for the erection of the deer water fountain statue dedicated to the City, ‘in an effort to beautify Hondo.’ This statue is presently located along Hwy 90 next to ‘the God’s Country’ sign.

In later years, Norma moved to her dream home on the Blanco River in Wimberley, TX. Remaining passionate for the outdoors, Norma continued her interests in plein-air art and gardening. She collected eclectic yard mementos. She was an officer in both the Wimberley Art League and Wimberley Herb Society.

Norma enjoyed life to the fullest, while remaining charitable to the less fortunate. She loved God, her family and her furry animals. She was loyal to her friends and considered them family. Rest in peace Mom/Nonnie/Sister and Norma. We are fine. We love you and will never forget you.

All services will be at Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. The Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 1:00-2:00pm. The Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm followed by the burial.
