Mose Von Hale

Jan. 28, 1930 – Nov. 29, 2018

On Thursday, November 29, 2018, Mose Von Hale passed away peacefully at the age of 88. Mose leaves a loving wife, Ina, children, step-children and an extended family.

Mose was born January 28, 1930, near Guymon, Oklahoma to William and Ethel Hale. He received his B.S. degree and Masters in Education from West Texas State where he played basketball for the Buffalos. Mose married Juanna Jo Broadaway in 1952, served in the Navy as Lieutenant JG, then moved his family to Dallas, Texas where he started a long career as an educator. Mose and Juanna Jo had two children Mary Lynn and Larry Von.

In 1998, Mose married Ina Parnell. Ina has two children, Brenda & Kristie. Mose and Ina built a home in Wimberley, Texas in 2006. He taught there a few years at St. Stephens School. He was a volunteer in the local library and sang in the Presbyterian and community choirs for several years. Mose and Ina’s home was always open to family and friends.

Mose had a passion for family, sports, books and biking. He loved to sing and play his guitar. Hale reunions were very important. Mose enjoyed getting his family to perform with him whether they wanted to or not. He had a wry sense of humor, was a keen observer of the human condition, and thoughtful to the end.
