    MICHAEL STEINERT

Michael Steinert

Michael Steinert passed away on March 13, 2021 after a long, courageous battle with lung cancer and leaves an empty space in the lives and hearts of his family and many close friends.

Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1942 and later a resident of Naperville, Illinois, Mike also lived in Idaho, Oregon and California, but in 2006 he found his true home when he and his wife Jean moved to Wimberley, Texas. In the Wimberley area, Mike became an active member of the St. Mary Catholic Church family, the Wimberley Knights of Columbus and local politics---serving as a City Council member and Mayor of Woodcreek. In 2018, the Steinerts moved to the Sacramento, California area to be near children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Aside from his immediate family, however, Mike truly “left his heart” in the Wimberley Valley with his many very special friends.

Mike’s early entrepreneurial spirit led to a successful business career which afforded him the opportunity to travel extensively abroad and instilled a passion for foreign travel. A final trip in 2019 to the African continent allowed him to achieve his goal/dream of visiting over 100 countries with a final total of 104.

Mike is survived by his beloved and loving wife, Jean, sons Eric Steinert (Anna) and Steven Brown (Robyn), grandchildren Summer Steinert, Collin Brown (Diane) and great grandson Jackson Brown, Stephanie Brown Lyon (Evan) and great grandsons Camden and Casey, and sister Linda Connelly in Chicago as well as extended familly members. All were loved dearly by Mike.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. on May 17 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Wimberley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wimberley Knights of Columbus and the Wounded Warrior Project.
