Lee Gibson

December 7, 1943 – January 26, 2021

Carol Lee Baker Gibson, 77, loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.

Lee was born on December 7, 1943 in Refugio, Texas and lived her early life in Agua Dulce and Alice. Her family moved to Corpus Christi in 1958 where she and her twin sister went to Baker Junior High and graduated from W. B. Ray High School. Lee studied at the University of Houston.

She and her late husband, Cecil, retired in 1997 and moved to Wimberley where they both started on a new venture and both became professional volunteers. She retired from Tenneco Gas after 25 years. Lee became very active in the Wimberley Lions Club and was the first woman President of the Club with 200 members. She was an active member of the Lions Board of Directors for 14 years. She worked at Market Days every month and was the Administrative and Concession Manager. Lee was active in the Wimberley United Methodist Church, the Wimberley Chamber of Commerce, Wimberley Civic Club, Wimberley Senior Citizen Activities, Inc. and served as an officer for several years in the Saddleridge Property Owners Association. She was Board President of the EmilyAnn Theatre and Gardens and was Concession Manager for many years for the special events held there. She was named Volunteer of the Year by the Chamber in 2004 and the July 4th Parade Grand Marshall in 2004. She was named Lion of the Year in 2006 and was a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow recipient from the Wimberley Lions Club in 2007 and 2010, one of the highest awards presented by a Lions Club. Lee relocated to Pearland, Texas in 2019 due to health issues and lived in Country Place.

Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil R. Gibson; father, Joe E. Baker and her mother, Marjorie Baker Best and her stepfather, Glenn E. Best.

She is survived by her beloved son, Chad Bollmeyer (Kat) of Pearland, and her granddaughters Tiffany (Steven) Carlson of Houston and Michelle (Taylor) Smith-Bollmeyer of Salt Lake City and great grandson, Wesley Carlson, and great granddaughter Olivia Carlson. Her identical twin sister, Lynn Tabor (Bob) of Corpus Christi; her brother, Larry (Dixie) Baker of Sandia; nephews Michael Baker of Pearland and Robert Tabor of San Antonio; niece Holly Jo (Rod) Wetzig of League City, and her great nephews, Justice Baker, and her great niece, Faith Wetzig. She had many friends and loved each and every one of them.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Texas Lions Camp or to Pearland United Methodist Church or to an organization of your choice in remembrance of Lee.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, February 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley, Texas. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 3 at 10 a.m. at Thomason Funeral Home. Family graveside services will be held at the Wimberley Cemetery for family only. Arrangements are under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home.
