    JERRY WAYNE CHRISMAN SR.

Jerry Chrisman

October 18, 1938 – November 30, 2021

Jerry Wayne Chrisman Sr. passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the age of 83 in Wimberley, Texas.

Jerry was born October 18, 1938, in Kerens, Texas to Carl Stout Chrisman and Viola Mae Dearmore Chrisman. After graduating from John H. Reagan High in Houston Texas he served proudly in the U.S. Army where he was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. Jerry went on to become a decorated police officer and detective with the Houston Police Department as he served and protected for 23 years before retiring in 1984. Soon thereafter he moved to the splendors of the Texas Hill Country in Wimberley, Texas, where he built a beautiful life never leaving the home and hill he loved.

Jerry lit up a room with his contagious laugh, mischievous twinkling eyes while always ready to share engaging stories or anecdotes. He enjoyed vintage and western movies, gospel music, college football, cooking and barbecue (as evidenced by his extensive grill collection). He was often found out on his deck with hummingbirds overlooking God’s country on many a fine Texas evening with his beloved dog Maggie ever by his side.

Jerry loved his Lord, wife, family, and friends fiercely with a generous spirit and loving legacy which will forever live.

He is survived by his wife, his forever Nancy; son Jerry Jr.; stepdaughter Lezlee Harris; stepsons Scott Harris and wife Tammy and Jeff Harris and fiancée Lana Fey; grandson Coleman Harris; granddaughters Lowery Walker and husband Travis and Jessica Verma and husband Arun; great grandchildren Jesse, Lynzee and Ryann Walker and Surina and Logan Verma; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to say thank you to Bently Aery for his visits and never ending offers of help and to Diana Hershey who unselfishly jumped in heart and soul, without hesitance to help during these difficult times. Thank you to the staff of Kyle Seton Hospital for taking great care of our “Pops.”

He was called. He served. He is counted.

At noon on Monday, December 13, following a private burial, a gathering of family and friends will be held at First Baptist Church in Wimberley, located at 15951 Winters Mill Pkwy, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate in Jerry’s honor to the Church’s general fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home. For more information and to sign the online registry, please visit thomasonfuneralhome. com.
