Jay Jones

June 22, 1930 – March 18, 2021

Jeannette “Jay” Jones, 90, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021.

Jay was born in Woonsocket, R.I. on June 22, 1930 to Leo and Corrine Allard. She was the oldest of six children—five girls and one boy.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her three sons, Joe D. Jones of Wichita, Kan., Timothy Jones and wife Kim of Wichita, Kan., and Michael Jones and wife Janie of Lakeway, Texas. She is also survived by her daughter, Janet Ternes and husband Stan of Wichita, Kan. She leaves behind one sister, Vivian Duval, and one brother, Leo (Joe) Allard, as well as eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Joe H. Jones, her husband of 67 years; three of her sisters Margaret (Gig), Pauline (Paul) and Cecile (Cil); two sisters-in-law Opal and Betty; and four brothers-in-law Bill, Elmer, Danny and Pete.

Jay was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces and served on active duty from 1949 to 1952 where she met the love of her life, Joe Jones. This is also where she acquired her training as an X-Ray Technician and continued her career in this field until her retirement.

Jay was a trail blazer during her military service and her civilian career. Off duty, she loved to work on crossword puzzles and enjoyed crocheting and knitting.

She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, March 26 at Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley, with a funeral liturgy at 11 a.m. Interment at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Wimberley will follow.
