Gregory (Greg) Alan Jones of Wimberley, TX passed in peace with his love by his side on March 24, 2021. He was 59 years young.

Greg is loved and remembered by his husband of 20 years, Paul Broome, and their beloved dogs and cats. Also by his sister Laurie (Brad) Fleener of MN, brother Bart (Becky) Jones of OR, his stepmom Kaye Jones of IA, his niece Sarah (Kate) and nephew Luke (Theresa), both of MN, his nephew Ryan of MT and niece Alice of CO. He was also a Great Uncle (self-named “Greg the Great”) to Eleanor, Miles, Eddie, Lyla and Levi. Those waiting for Greg on the other side are many, including his mother Barbara Gray and his father Levell Jones to whom he was born on August 23, 1961 in Rawlins, WY.

Greg grew up in Wyoming, Iowa and Colorado and took to the skies as a flight attendant in his young adulthood. He retired in 2018 after an astonishing 30-year career flying for Continental and United Airlines. On one fated trip, he met his husband, who would join him to live in Wimberly. They were married at their home in 2001 and then again in 2013 when the law caught up to their love, and the “Freedom to Marry Act” was passed in MN. This August will mark 20 years of marriage.

Greg made Wimberley his home for nearly 25 years and was loved by those near and far who knew him as a traveler, painter and florist. He also loved camping, rescue animals and was a supporter of the local arts. In retirement he and Paul spent many hours of relaxation together at their lake spot.

Greg made each life event and vacation more memorable, fun and sweet. He knew how to throw next-level parties with handmade costumes and decorations. A talented painter, he did murals and portraits. He would write and sing funny songs. His laugh was boisterous and he shared it often.

Life with Greg, was more meaningful, connected and accepting. He was a loyal mentor to those in his family, community and friendships. Keen on compassion, and quick with a care package, he knew how to courageously love his loves.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held to honor Greg on Sunday April 11, 2021 from 2-5 p.m. at The Lodge at Cypress Falls in Wimberley. This outdoor memorial is open to anyone called to honor Greg. A virtual option is also available - please email [email protected] to attend via Zoom.

In lieu of flowers, please bring flowering plants and bushes to be used in a memorial garden for Greg. Donations may also be made in Greg’s name to Wimberly Pride.
