Estelle Maude Hill

On Wednesday, March 3, 2021, our loving mother, Estelle Maude Hill passed away peacefully at the age of 97 after a lengthy decline from Alzheimer’s. She died in Deer Creek Nursing Home of Wimberley, where she had been a resident since June 2015.

She is preceded in death by: her husband, Leon Mitchell Hill, to whom she was married 72 years; her parents Emil Christian and Louise Johanna Scheiwetz-Albrecht, and her siblings, Homer Lee Albrecht, Caesar Ferdinand Albrecht, Elmer Albert Albrecht, Paul Edward Albrecht, Helen Louise Jones, and Raye Doris Cole.

She is survived by her children, Michael Ewing Hill, Mark Paul Hill, Tana Louise Yowell, and Elizabeth Ann Clark and their respective spouses. She had 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Estelle was born October 6, 1923 in El Paso, Texas, but most of her childhood was on a farm outside of Goliad, Texas.

She graduated from high school in Yorktown, Texas. She and Leon Mitchell (Mitch) Hill married on November 15, 1944. Her husband’s employment required numerous transfers, first to Corpus Christi, Texas, followed by Ada, Oklahoma; Monahans, Texas; Hobbs, New Mexico; Lake Charles, Louisiana; Dallas, Texas; Midland, Texas, Houston, Texas and lastly Wimberley, Texas.

Above all, Estelle was a loving mother whose lifelong career was as a “household manager”. She loved to sew and was an expert seamstress. She loved flowers and could make flowers bloom where no one could succeed. She loved to camp and to be in the out of doors.

She was a devoted Lutheran. She was an active parishioner and a founding member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Wimberley.

Her cremated remains are to be interned in the cemetery of the Lutheran Church in Ander, Texas where most of her family is buried.

In leu of flowers, donations may be made to any of the community services listed on the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection website, cancer or Alzheimer’s organizations, or other charities of your choosing.
