Edward Allison Shand

August 30, 1934-August 16, 2019

Edward Allison Shand of Wimberley, Texas passed away on August 16, 2019 at the age of 84. Ed was born in Chicago, Illinois, August 30 1934. He attended North Texas State University where he met his loving wife, Jean. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, W.C. Shand and Helen Allison Shand, sister, Molly Shand and great grandson Tysen Russell Shand. Ed is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Akridge Shand, his two children, Kelley Shand and David Shand Sr., grandson David Shand Jr. and wife Amber, and two great grandchildren Brody and Bostyn Shand. He is also survived by many cousins and life long friends with whom he enjoyed spending time.

Ed loved fishing and rock hunting. He and Jean spent their retirement years traveling and spending time with family. Ed served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for several years. He spent his life in public education serving his final years as a counselor and principal in Wimberley. He always enjoyed running into and hearing from former students and sharing stories of the good ole days! The family has been blessed by and is so thankful for the loving caregivers that have supported Ed and Jean in this phase of life. A memorial service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held at First Baptist Church, Wimberley, Texas on Friday, August 23 at 10:00. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite local charity.
