Dorothy McCrocklin Arthur

Dorothy McCrocklin Arthur and her big smile went to be with her Lord on September 23rd, 2021.  Theodore McCrocklin & Gertrude Corley McCrocklin were blessed with the birth of Dorothy on January 4th, 1922 in Campti, Louisiana.  After graduation from Campti High School, Dorothy moved to Waco, Texas, where she lived for a short period of time while attending Business School. Later she moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, where Dorothy met the love of her life, her husband of 60 years, Orvis T. Arthur. The two of them were married after a brief courtship. Later they moved to Houston, Texas, where they raised their three children.

In Dorothy and Orvis' retirement years, they moved to Wimberley, Texas, where Dorothy lived for 44 years.  During those years, the two traveled extensively through the United States and Canada in their RV hitched to their Suburban.  Granny was a devout Christian and attended the First Baptist Church of Wimberley, where she spent every Sunday with her Sunday School class.  If you were to visit Dorothy, you were sure to find her with a football game on the television where she was always cheering for her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.   And, of course, she would never miss an episode of Wheel of Fortune.

Dorothy is remembered as the rock of the family, strong in spirit with the patience of a saint.  She leaves behind her children, Michael Arthur (Diane), Stephen Arthur & Susan Arthur Robinson; grandchildren, Travis Arthur (Cara), Holly Arthur, Ryan Robinson & Kyle Robinson (Tiffany Speaks); great-grandchildren, Brody Robinson & Patrick Arthur. She was preceded in death by her parents Theodore McCrocklin & Gertrude Corley McCrocklin; brother, Richard T. McCrocklin, and husband, Orvis T. Arthur.

Visitation is scheduled for 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 28th, at Thomason Funeral Home, 14700 Ranch Road, Wimberley, Texas 78676. Graveside services to follow at 12 noon, Wimberley Cemetery, 501 Old Kyle Road, Wimberley, Texas 78676.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Wimberley Library or Carpenter’s Helper Fund. 15951 Winters Mill Parkway, Wimberley, TX 78676
