    BRENDY ALEXANDER BROWNE BARNETTE KILBER

Brendy Alexander Browne Barnette Kilber

Just before sunset on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, Brendy Alexander Browne Barnette Kilber released her earthly body and joined the stars in heaven. She was at home surrounded by the beautiful treasures and tapestries she’d collected over years of travel, and holding the hands of her beloved children. Brendy was born August 21, 1949, to Lois and William Browne in Dallas, Texas. She was voted “Friendliest” at Hillcrest High School and graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in home economics around 1970. In 1977, she moved to Wimberley and became an icon of “friendly Wimberley” through her work at the Chamber of Commerce and Wimberley Land Co. Later, she moved to Austin and worked for Whole Foods Market. In the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic, she continued to work full time on the front line, checking people out, brightening their days, and uplifting spirits during a very strange time in history.

Brendy was best known for her “infectious” smile and bright, cheerful energy. She naturally put everyone at ease; she was caring, welcoming, a good listener, and the best cheerleader. Her children felt supported, loved, protected and nurtured through tough times and triumphs, and are truly blessed to have such a loving, dedicated mother. Brendy was adventurous, brave, and incredibly stronger than many realized because of her easygoing personality.

For many, many years Brendy traveled with her sisters and mother to Central America, Mexico, and New Mexico. She took each of her children with her at least once. It was important to her that each child had travelled abroad before they graduated high school, because she wanted them to experience different cultures. She avidly believed that travel abroad taught important lessons that one couldn’t learn in a classroom. The Blanco River Little Ranches Road crossing, Colorado, and Port Aransas also held a special places in her heart. Brendy loved to laugh and listen to stories. She had a fondness for colorful things and beautiful native-made jewelry and artwork.

Brendy is survived by her four children, Leisha, Carley, Rose, and Alex, her two sisters, Amy and Suzanne, and many more nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Her legacy of love continues to become known as members of the community come forward and share how she touched their lives. The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 4, from 3-5pm at the Highpointe Amenity Center between Austin and Dripping Springs. Dress casual and/or colorful and stop by for a few minutes to honor this magical lady! There is also a memorial page on Facebook and the family invites you to share your stories and photos of Brendy there as well.

Rest In Peace,

Brendy Browne.

Forever and ever, Amen.
