Barnabas gets $25,000 matching funds donation

An anonymous citizen has awarded up to $25,000 in matching funds to assist those in need to The Barnabas Connection, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization serving the Wimberley Valley area.

“We are thrilled with such a large contribution from a truly Good Samaritan,” said Susan Myers, President of the Board of Directors. “We continue to be inspired by how the Wimberley community comes together and rallies for less-fortunate neighbors in times of crisis. Combining this donation with our spirit of giving will translate to a huge impact in this difficult time.”

The donations go to an Emergency Fund to help cover necessities such as rent, house payments and bills for families and individuals who have recently lost jobs and income.

According to Kate Sowell, Director of the Barnabas Connection, within 24 hours of announcing this donation, Wimberley residents came through with over $4000 in funds to make the match.

Donations can be made on The Barnabas Connection Facebook page, or by mailing a check to P.O. Box 145, Wimberley, TX 78676.

“We are so thankful to be part of a community like this, where we come together to throw out a life raft for those who find themselves in tough circumstances,” Myers said. “It’s what makes Wimberley such a special place.”

Founded in 2004, The Barnabas Connection provides direct financial assistance to individuals and families, and during this COVID-19 crisis has assisted with funding for needed medical and support supplies, and advocacy for community members in need through a volunteer-staffed phone-based resource referral line service that connects clients in need with resources to help them.
