Track team runs away with home win

At last week’s Texan Relays, Wimberley’s track and field team placed first over nine other schools, the fifth championship this season in five outings. In combined total of all races and field events, the Texans scored 169 points. The closest competitor was Bandera with 133 points.

Coach Lacey Lambert highlighted sophomore Brina Jones for her competitive spirit and ability to score points in a number of events. “In the broad jump, Brina had her best jumps so far this year,” the coach complimented. “She competed in long jump, triple jump then anchored the 4x200 relay. “In that relay, the Blanco runner had a 15 yard lead, but Brina ran down the Blanco runner right at the finish line and won the race.”

The Texan track and field team will compete in the district track meet in Canyon Lake on April 3 and 4.
