Warren wins 4A Coach of the Year

Wimberley High School Head Football Coach and Director of Athletics, Doug Warren, is the Lone Star Gridiron 2017 Class 4A Coach of the Year. Warren won the most votes among The Brotherhood of Texas High School Football members, fans and Lone Star Gridiron staff.

He coached the Wimberley Texans football team to a 13-2 record in the 2017 football season, earning the title of District 13-4A champs. The Texans narrowly lost to West Orange-Stark in the 4A semifinal round.

“Coach Warren fights hard with his team every day on and off the field. He mentors our student-athletes and challenges them to rise to any challenge. He is very deserving of this recognition,” said Dwain York, Wimberley ISD Superintendent of Schools. “We enthusiastically congratulate him and look forward to more great things to come out of our football program thanks to the leadership of Coach Warren,” he added.

Lone Star Gridiron, an authority on Texas High School Football, fosters a love of the game through recognizing coaches and players, tracking game-day scores and offering a platform for players and coaches to share their insights.

“It is such an honor to receive an award of this scope, but you don’t win something like this without a lot of help. We have great kids, the best coaching staff in the state, a supportive community and a fantastic administration. Together, all of these helped bring this recognition to Wimberley,” said Warren.
